you also need H2S Alive..
H2S Aware is the wrong course

and you probably won't get work for at least 2-4 weeks

as stated, take your h2s alive course, also is your "fall protection and scaffolding" the same as "fall arrest" course? if you plan on doing much more than i do, you need a fall arrest course if you are over 3 meters up off the floor, also you need a harness above 3 meters. H2s alive is a pretty breeze course. its a one day course and its fairly involved in calgary. i took mine at the u of c (or sait, i cant remember), basicaly if you know to cover your ass in case of an accident you would be fine. it also teaches you to throw on an SCBA unit, which helps, but i havent had to use it yet.

that aside...
a buddy of mine at work was talking to me about how his aunt at precision says theyre hiring. just a through the grapevine tip off, but im going for it...

nabors should also be hiring...

try

apache
jomax
shell (constant drug tests)
suncore (up north, runnning REALLY big, 18 5/8" piping right now)
BP

check them out, you might find something through there

OR, get on with my company (FI CANADA) and see if you can get a transfer out here, were bassed out of st. johns out there if its not too far. tell them that you want to be a tong hand or run lay-down out here, see if they can transfer you out, then your out west and you can look for a job as a roughneck, if you would really wanna drop running tongs

Yah but then again you're working in a war torn country with militia that kidnaps foreign workers and beheads them when they don't get what they want.

I think I'de rather pass!

Umm, I'm an MWD Field Engineer and i charge $675 as a consultant per day.. directional drillers $1000, geologist $1000, Oil Company Consultant makes $1200 a day..
overseas you can make more + in USD tax free anything over 183 days a year.. anything less than 183 days is 10% tax.
I'm sure anything over there pays double for the risk of your life and conditions

I would probably do it, if they supplied a decent for of security....and supplied me with enough weaponry. I would try and shoot my way out instead of waiting for my friends and family to watch me get my head cut off with a dull knife.

That is what i was offered. 10k USD per week working 21 day hitches. 2 body guards and an interpreter were also supplied. I would have taken it but as mentioned before i like my head right were it is.

If you really want to hit up the rigs. Drive down to medicine hat and drop off some resumes for a day. Places like precison drilling, 3 drilling, trailblazer, and hemsing. Other places like haliburton and calfrac are always hiring too.

Try: Nabors Drilling PH(403)263-6777 (Deb)
Trinidad Drilling PH(780)414-2029 (April)
Ensign Drilling
Precision Drilling
Bear Drilling
Tri-City

Have you ever worked on a drilling rig before??
The places I wrote are all in Alberta, I dont know if theres any actual companies in B.C., I think they are all Alberta based and they send you to B.C if there is a whole to drill there.

Also when you start the rigs it is a bitch. Well basicly you are everyones bitch. You also have to be in a good physical strength alot of people quit after a month because it is just tough work.

 Some of the people I've known that have worked on the rigs have taken this rule to heart. Best one was my ex-boyfriend, when we broke up he emailed me "buh bye bitch" and then he says (that's an illiteration if you didn't know) what a putz, I laughed for like an hour.
