No, Please don't do it.. You'll gain nothing but, people pointing and laughing, and a water logged motor

you realize the hood scoop on stis feeds air over an intercooler right?

Well, no. You could get a mustang style ram air intake. Its basically what you're talking about. The STI does not have a front mount intercooler, its a top mount. Meaning its on the top of the engine, right underneath the scoop. The scoop draws in air to cool it...

Mach 1 is the only one with a ram air style (shaker hood) and even then it's not all tha effective.

Bullit = GT from 2001 up = fake hood scoop.

You can get "ram air" aftermarket kits which funnel air from below, but it's no different than a CAI..

Come on guys be nice to him ... [He wants to compete with the stunningly good looks, and extreme performance of the Kia Rio Sports package ..... That hood scoop idea will definetly add him a crazy amount of power, with all that air circulating under the hood some of it has to hit the filter, right? And come on, engines have those pieces of metal ontop of them so water doesn't get in. He wont have to worry about waterlogging.. I think its called the "head" of the engine, but i dont know.. I'm pretty sure water would end up being good tho - cool that engine down .. ]

Please don't stick a hood scoop on your N/A honda civic. Thx

Hmm I don't think you'll need a hoodscoop for what you're looking for. Give this a shot:

the sti has ram air induction alright, but its under the hood on top of the radiator, if you can find the snorkus from an STi and hook it up to your car, that woulkd be pretty sweet. cold air + ram air intake

wow. love that induction! Don't forget to set your timing and idle speed higher. That's the real way to make horsepower! You just turn the timing up until the engine starts shaking and making lots of noise (like those top fuel dragsters) but you dont want it that high, cuz that much horsepower will get you in trouble!:burnout:

ok, first off, he was just asking a question. no need to alienate people here. it simply isn't good for anyone.

The thing is, you don't need a ram air induction on you car, it simply won't do anything for you except garner the laughs of people that actually know how cars work. (approx 1% of the total population, so don't feel bad). As was said before, the hood scoop on the STi and any Subaru is there to redirect air over the intercooler. Intercoolers don't care if they get wet, it actually helps them do their job.

But getting away from the wetness thing, there is really no way for you to design and build a ram air system that will be efficient enough to actually give you and advantage over other styles of induction for your car. a CAI will be much more effective. If you think of all the strange and wierd bends and twists and restrictions that would be in such a system it is obvious that any advantages you may gain would be lost in the system.
