...Anyone taken it? they say you get a 3 demerit credit at the end, is this applicable to your drivers abstract, and your insurance?

 It is 3 years before they disappear off your record.

I went to chinook driving acadamy!

My instructor was a redneck who made me drive around town doing errands with him (pick up beer, groceries, mcdonalds) while he chainsmoked in the car the whole time.

i saw him a year later as a blackjack dealer at elbow!

i think it just affects demerits. i took the ama course when i was 16 but never used the demerits

so if you take the course now will it remove demerits that are currently on your abstract?

If you take the DDC from Chinook Driving, you cannot take the course again until 2 years later to get 3 more demerits back

can you just take one every 2 year to build up your bank of demerits for future uses

it's not extra demerits. it just erases 3 demerits that u have. it's not like "i have 14 demerits, but because i took the course, i have 18 available." it's more like "i have 14, and if i take the course, i'll have 11."

yeh but if i dont have any right now.. can i take it.. and hvae the 2 credit. then if I do get pull over, i can just use those 2 to cancel out

Demerits stay on your Abstract for 2 years and insurance for 3 years

So then let's say you already have an insurance rate where you have told them you have 2 speeding tickets on record. The rate is 3000 for example. Then you take this course. Will your rate be reassessed?

There's an online defensive driving course you can take and still get the 3-demerit reduction...

My question is, if I take this course, and get the 3 demerit reduction, will my insurance go down as a result of 3 less demerits?

That's what I want to know as well. If it does go down, I'm all for it.

Maybe you should consult your insurance company prior to taking the course to see what they say

i talked to my insurance compny before and it's the driving record that affects ur premiums. not the amount of demerits uu have. so ur insurance rate will still go up if u have 0 demerits but a speeding conviction.

Your insurance will not go down ,its just a easy means to keep your licence, but the ticket will still count with insurance company

the demerit reduction course is around $80 from ama. I took it and it gives you a certificate that is good to take off 3 demerits when ever you use it. it will not help you insurance. it is the driving school that will help you insurance and that costs alot more. the purpose is not to lower insurance but to stop people from loosing their liscence because of demerits.i took it saved my liscence but didn't effect insurance
