Is there any interest in this event? Please post if you are interested in getting your car dynoed? If there are enough people, we could turn it into a fun event with multiple classes (ie. best NA car, best Turbo, best S/C, best 4banger etc).

If there isn't too many people that want to do it, there is the one on December 1st that Toma is already organizing.

I'd like to see how my car is performing. What are we looking at for cost?

AWD? :P

No go for AWD has to be FWD or RWD

Toma
11-18-2002, 09:34 AM
$40 sounds fair to me. That will realistically get you 2 runs. One to make sure everything is running well and set-up properly, the second a "back-up" to make sure everything was right.

If you guys have some way of tuning your AF, then AF graph will also be included (though the way I am going through wide band 02 sensors, one of these days, I am gonna have to start charging for that ;) )

Only because I keep shooting it out of my exhaust every 2 or third run=P

I'm in for $40. I want to know how much of the 260 hp gets to the rear wheels in my G35.

Yeah I'm down. I already posted in the other dyno post... But I need to know FOR SURE the date and time so I can book off work if I have to. That would be greatly appreciated. ;)

I'm not 100% sure about mine, but most newer AWD cars are electronically controlled. Removal of the front driveshaft will not work to run a dyno test.

My car wont be broken in until like... spring :( We should have another then. If you pay like... 80$ can you have 4 or 5 runs? Lol

Toma
11-20-2002, 09:56 PM
Regular price is only $90 an hour....you can make 10 runs or so...

szw

Do dyno results alter if I'm running my winter tires/rims compared to summer tires/rims?

Toma
11-21-2002, 11:41 AM
They can. If they are heavier etc, that can affect power numbers slightly, as can tire compuond, tire pressure (deformation) etc. But, it won't be more then a few horsepower.

Toma

szw
11-21-2002, 11:45 AM
ok I won't be in for this. If there is one in the spring sure. 90 bucks an hour is pretty good, split it with two people you get a few runs and its only 30 bucks.

Toma
11-21-2002, 12:08 PM
bzzt, wrong answer ;)

$90 per hour per car. The reason is that strapping each car down is the PITA part. Once its on the dyno, its easy, hence why regular rate is $50 for just a single baseline run.

Toma

szw
11-21-2002, 12:45 PM
ahh I get it. Well I may be in then. BUT I wanted to get a stock dyno, put on my intake and dyno it again. Would that be possible, or a PITA since you have to strap down the car twice?

if you can install your intake in less than an hour its possible :D

my intake didnt give me very many gains until i got my exhaust, gotta do input, and output

If this happens when the snow melts, I'm in for sure.
Unfortunately I'm stuck in Lethbridge with no insurance on the 240 until then.

Am i correct in saying that mustang dyno's usually put out higher numbers than that of dynojets?!

Toma
12-03-2002, 11:16 PM
I heard lower...... never tried it back to back though.

Superford did a test, and the 120hp car made a little more on the Mustang, but the 500hp car made less on the Mustang....go figure.

What kinda other goodies would we be able to do but dyno are car?
wow that would be great to see my car get dynoed at probably 94 horsepower to the wheels lol

but that sounds like a good idea

Toma
12-06-2002, 03:21 AM
If you know what it weighs fairly closely with you in the car, you can do 0 to 60mph runs or 1/4 mile runs as well.

If this event is in Spring count me in! Just get organized make a date so people can plan for it! Most people have their rides parked for winter so I dont think thats such a good idea!
Can some one get on a date, and the costs of a multi-party dyno session ?

Toma
12-06-2002, 07:49 PM
Well, I dunno. Spring is like 4 months away. I dunno about the winter theory, had a better turnout December first then I did for grand opening day ;) ;)

If you guys wanna plan that far ahead, lets shoot for sometime end of March??

Soooo, vote!!
1) Jan
2) Feb
3) March
4) April

I'm good to go anytime

ConVict

So Toma...
Are you really good at tunning F/I ?
I need to hook up to a dyno and tune for quite a while...
How long do you think it would take to get the max efficency ?

Carefull:(

Make sure you know what your talking about before you post something like that. There are WAY more factors than the addition of load that account for lower numbers on the Mustang Dyno. I don't know them so I won't comment. There are no signs of detonation whatsoever, perfect A/F ratio, perfect timming, I have seen (and felt the motor) only one seal went, it feels and looks like it just folded over. Could this be caused by detonation? Sure, but in this case it is VERY unlikely, a better culprit might be improperly milled rotors, that motor had 3mm seals:(

On subies with automatics, you can disable the all wheel drive system with a fuse, making it front wheel drive. Unfortunately, that won't work with a stick. At least on a subaru, you can remove the prop shaft that sends power to the front wheels and put in something that is more like a conventional driveshaft, making the car rear wheel drive if its a stick. But it doesn't seem worth the effort, just to dyno the car for kicks more than anything. I'd like to dyno my car, but converting it to RWD for one pull is too much work.

If any of you have not been to Dynomotive yet, I would really suggest giving it a try.

It was absolutely the best money that I have spent on testing my truck. I have been down to Tomas on several occasions and have seen everyone walk away impressed.

Let me know when this will take place. I can take digital video of anyone who wants it.

Gord.

.....Sunday, March 2nd, 2003. Starts at noon. Probably till 5:00pm.

I will try and do as always and gets some chips and pop and shit happening. I'll make a separate post.

Hope to see as many of you as possible there!
