Is that a conversion kit like the catz one, or are they off a model from japan that came with them?

How do those Phillips look? I've heard a lot about them but don't know anyone that has them. I'm thinking of getting those too.

where do you install the little box (what is that box anyways?) that is attached when you do the conversion? In the engine bay? or is the wire long enough that it goes thru the fire wall?

That box is the ballast. It supplies the necessary current to the lights to make them work. I'm not sure where the ballast is normally placed. I could see them being a heat sensitive item, though I don't know for sure. THey are probably normally as close to the lights as can be managed. I looked into a couple of different HID conversions and suchlike, but hadn't seen too much on how they were installed.

yeah, i figured that it would heat up too, even tho I wasn't 100% sure of what that box was (had a feeling it was the ballast, but wasn't sure) cause I was thinking that it was almost like an amplifier for the current, therefore giving off some serious heat.
still makes me wonder where to put if it gets that hot tho; lots of plastic stuff right around the headlight assembly.:dunno:

Mine?

I doubt the box gets all that much hotter than the rest of the engine compartment. I was just thinking it might be sensitive to high ambient temperatures, like inside the engine compartment. I don't know if this is the case or not.

I wanna get the Phillips HID kit for the P5. There's a guy out in Toronto who sells them for about $750-800 tax in. Pretty good deal I think.

Just curious, for the people who are doing the HID conversion, are you doing it just for looks? or to actually improve lighting on the road?

LOL

I was quoted $3200+tax+labor for OEM HID, I was like holy crap!!!

Phillips will do, plug and play! So simple but yet I'll still let the professionals do it haha

But even before then, I think I'm picking up a set of PIAAs when I'm down in Vancouver as my first mod! LOL

Thats hype bro!!! HID is the way to go but it takes a lot of bank to fork out though. Are you running the 4000k setup or the 6000k setup?

Peace

Just get Audikid to steal you a set for like $1000. Then report him to crime stoppers and get a $1000 reward. Total investment : $0!

They are the same setup that a E55 Benz has, I got the Ballast from one...so...whatever a stock HID car is, that what mine is, I think they are a 5000K...
