TAC is generally good, with decent support, but you get what you pay for right? You have to pay the big bucks to get good on-site support.

Best experiences I've had with big connections is with Sprint, their guys are usually fairly knowledgable and are onsite pretty quickly when theres a problem.

GT is so-so, and they're being bought by 360 Networks right now so who knows what's going to happen with that situation.

My vote is for Sprint though.

haha, that statement right there says how good Telus internet connections are. A Telus employee uses Shaw internet?!:dunno: :D

Well when I pay lass for shaw than I would with telus even with the discount, why would I pay more?> haha

Besides, ADSL and the FIBER offered by TAC is 2 different things.

Don't worry, we're ponying up the big bucks :D. The support I'm worried about is if the service goes down, how long it takes to bring it back up, and how "smart" their techs are. The GT guys are terrible, I've had so many "need to go to office at 3am" incidents it's not funny. They claim they need access to our office so I have to meet the techs there, but they have full access to the downstairs main networking rooms already. Crap like that sucks.

I've talked to Sprint sales guys and they seem even more knowledgable than the GT techs! Unfortunately, I was never happy with Sprint's routing... they have some really poor routing to many places. Maybe it's better now?

hehe no kidding, getting bankrupcy protection, then getting bought out by a company that just came out of bankrupcy protection. This is why I'm pursuing telus... their prices are pretty decent compared to the competition.

I looked at UUNET and Big Pipe as well, but those guys think I'm rich or something!

Only routing troubles I ever had with Sprint was with their UUNet links, but those problems ended about a year or so ago it seems.

If you do go with TAC lemme know what they're like since I haven't touched them in about 18 months.

hehe I refuse to support Bell :D. Trying to take away my rights to Howard Stern! :thumbsdow

And if you have Telus ADSL, this has nothing to do with it :D. DSL and Fiber is run by 2 completely different groups.

And in case anyone is wondering what I'm buying, it's a 10mbit full duplex fiber line. Possibly 30mbit depending on company's growth.

absolutely they never keep me on hold for 30 minutes, or over charge me on my minutes, or try to sell me every phone feature in the world when I call for service, or invoice me two hundred dollars on my phone bill when Im away from my place for an entire month!!!!!!!

You must not be calling the same telus as the rest of us cause I always usually have long wait periods.
I am guessing that you are in ontario cause telus is competing there too as Bell is in Alberta & B.C. (Bell doesn't do Resedential in AB&B.C)
Oh an another thing is if you are in ontario and are with telus I've got money that Bell is probly reselling to telus your dialtone as telus does with Bell.
Sorry to say but your are most likely still with Bell and not even no it and Bell is still getting your money

Telus cell service is pretty good to me. They help me save money whenever I order new features. The only complaint is the 30+ minutes of on-hold time whenever I call. Benny's gotta answer the damn phones quicker!

Well that is good that you do get great service cause it goes a long way. I 'd much prefer to spend a few extra bucks and get better service .:)

We have a number of servers in the Telus data center, and do about 400GB/month with them The uptime is not very good, but the performance and support services are excellent.

Not very good means about 99% uptime.. the minimum I expect is a 99.999% guarantee.

If you don't require the connection to your location, I have had excellent experience with Rackspace (managed dedicated server hosting) and they are very price competitive with Telus, but have far better connectivity/service.

Finally, decent usable feedback! Can you elaborate more on the uptime? What kind of outages do you encounter? Telus just pukes and is inaccessable to the world? Or an isolated outage just to your circuit? How long are the outages for? Do you expect you service to go out every month?

Also, if you don't mind, I'd like to do a speed trial or two off your servers. If you're OK with it, please PM me :D
