Like it says, what is the widest wheel you can fit on on a Audi S4 without modification?

Just finding wheels "PERIOD" that fit can be a chore with the S4. The big brake calipers create fitment issues because of contact with the rims spokes on many different rims that would normally fit an A4 or A6 without any problem. There are some options of course, but you will definitely want to know that whatever you choose is going to fit before you drop the money.

That being said, the right rim in anything from 7 to an 8.5 inch will fit under the fenders with little or no issues at all. Some guys have done 9.5's on the rear, but I would be very cautious doing this as you would need to run a staggered tire size front to rear, and this can reek havoc on the AWD systems...

I'm doing research for a friend. He wants to do some changes to his car. Wheels, exhaust and chip.

I suggested him going with a set of SSR GT3's in a 19x8.5

Do you guys do any work on these cars.

He has money to burn ;)

Come by and check out our in-house 450 hp Audi S4. The car is lowered and running 18"x8.5" with 255's all around and there are NO RUBBING ISSUES...

I would like to see that, as the fastest known is 11.XX unless it is a full race car. Maybe S4........

And for wheels, do check out Tunerworks, but also try www.audiworld.com and search for pictures to get an idea for what you want. Its really not that tough, even for professionals
Take a peak at the I-Forged, as they dont get much nicer!!
I have 18x8.5, and I dont have any issue either, but I do have 245, not 255's

r-audi: I think he meant 10's as in 10" wide wheels?

The SSR's are known to work on that application... I myself have done 19x8.5's on S4's many times without rubbing issues, but like I said, not all rims are designed to clear the calipers, so just make certain you know they work before you buy...

That would make more sense, although not without a lot of work..... At 8.5 I am just as wide as the fenders

Actually, S4's come with 17's, your thinking A4, which still doesn't matter, as they are the same body. Either way you can go wider then 7.5, thats fairly wimpy!
Just go to Tunerworks, they will ease your pain!

Here is a pic of a "typical" A4 owner with 10" wide rear tires......
As you can see, they won't fit with a 'little' work.....

I run 265's on the rear of my VW. With me driving, and spare in hatch, with a full tank of petrol -- no rubbing issues. Two people, three people -- serious rubbing issues; only over bumps.

I would say that the rear-fenders of a VW GTI are about the size of the S4`, and my suspension is roughly set to where a stock S4 would sit.

I meant the kind of wheel, not the exact wheel and car. Brock I believe?

yah those are Brock B1's. and the one you know from winnipeg was on Steve's yellow A4 ( a buddy of mine). he has since sold the A4 and the wheels seperately.

How is that a comparison? You're comparing an A4 with a B5. :dunno:

Fitting wheels on a quattro system is a big problem because the Torsen doesn't like it when the front and rear wheel diameters are not the same. Apparently anything 3-4% difference is acceptable but not higher.

If your friend has money to burn, then he/she should be looking at a set of HRE or iforged with custom offset and coilovers.
