View Full Version : Spotted Dk Grey Lancer - McLeod Tr 1am

Saw a dark grey lancer on McLeod Trail last night. about 1am. Numbers on the window indicated he'd been at Race City.

Bunch of us were piled into one car. We weren't stopped but we tried to shout at him asking what he ran - I am pretty sure he said 14.5. Then we asked what was under the hood (turbo?) and his replay was "nothing!"

The car was pretty quick, hard to tell because of traffic and our overloaded back seat, but it seemed fast to me. But I didn't think a Lancer could even get close to that fast without forced induction? And driving behind him I couldn't hear a turbo or supercharger.

Anyone know this guy or know how you can make a non-turbo Lancer run 14.5? :/

Or did I just mis-hear him? Thats what I get for shouting out windows.

maybe you heard 24.5 ? :dunno:

If its a stock lancer, besides evo, no way it ran 14.5 in calgary...

IMO, theres no way its guna be stock, but a buncha bolt ons would maybe giv him 14.5 1/4 mile time.

not likely, lancer ralliarts run like mid 15s stock, so probably 16ish in calgary. he's prolly got some sort of FI set up or maybe some juice?

didn't sound turbo or supercharged at the track, and NO way it was just some bolt-ons to pull 14.5

Nitrous!

:dunno: , didnt they run 15 flat stock, thas wut i heard, but i guess i was wrong...anyway, yea bolt ons wont shave off 2 seconds now that i think bout it...when i first got my s14 i told my bro i was guna get a buncha bolt ons and break into 14's. but once i learned a thing or 2 i realised how unrealistic that is, and i guess that slipped my mind wen i was writing my previous post.

Anyone know what was done to that Lancer? He said it was stock, but according to Motortrend, they ran a 15.0 at sea level...and said he ran a 14.5

Thank god he's on the bottle, cause I was starting to wonder if I should sell my car and buy a Lancer. I am 99% sure it wasn't turbo or supercharger.

However, he was burning up and down McLeod, isn't that expensive on Nitrous? And is it good to use it so frequently?

We all know Race City times are usually a bit slow, due to altitude here etc. If he can do 14.5 here that means its damned fast.

:dunno: is that right? someone correct me if im wrong...

and he must have like a 75 shots at least to get that time.... but what do i know... NAZZZZ..

If he is on Nos he can have more than one shot. Its recomended you use nitrous for no more than 15 seconds with a fully opened throttle. The average 10 lb bottle lasts about 7-10 passes on a quarter mile run. It also depends on how conservative the driver is.

ya no way buddy got 14.5 with naws, i bet he has something on his bumper that fires across the finish line to make people think his car is fast, lol

Nitrous and turbo kits do just bolt on!:D So it is possible and it would be:bigpimp:

It was pretty eay to call bullshit on him, asfter asking what he had done and replying nothing, you could see that he at least had exhasut, not that it would explain the 14.5, but points in the direction of not telling the truth..

What did he have to gain by saying nothing? After I got home I inmmediately checked the specs, only to confirm it.
(Motor Trend-15.0 1/4 mile, Lancer RalliArt)

Couldn't hear any signs of turbo ro S/C either, thought it would be N02

donjuan, u mtie bolt a turbo on, but not many ppl actually consider it a bolt on, haha.

Ha ha I consider and engine swap to be bolt on... as long as it bolts on:D

<Rydog revives old thread.......>

I drive a 2004 Ralliart. 162 hp and 162 torque stock. with my cai and exhaust from Injen and Road Race Motorsports respectively, they combine for 177 hp which has been dynoed. when he said they were underrated, he meant the factory numbers of horsepower and torque. they are closer to about 168hp/tq. some dudes in the states are running 14.8 totally stock and pushing the 4G69 engine to the max. i don't think it's unreasonable at all to get a 14.5 with a couple of bolt on's up here. i've opened a lot of eyes when i've lined up against some cars out there that would have expected to destroy me. i love it, it's a bit of an unknown sleeper.

cheers,
Ry

How come my 140 hp shitbox can hang with them then?

what do you drive? perhaps other drivers aren't pushing them yet, i dunno. all i know is that preludes, integras, celica's and spec v's are all neck and neck with me when we line up. not sure what you drive or what you've done to it tho.

I've got an alero, only 'performance mod' is an intake (I admit I just have it because it sounds cool).

The Ralliart is definately faster, but its pretty damn close through first and second, and my buddy is a good driver who isn't afraid to bag on his car. When we hit 3rd its game over though, my gearing sucks balls :thumbsdow

I'm not calling your car slow at all, but 14.5? Seems pretty far fetched to me, now we're talking WRX times.

Not sure where you are from RyDog, but we are at like 3700 feet above sealevel. Runningt a 14.5 here is pretty darn quick for a "stock" car, especially a lancer. The 14.8's I am sure are at Sea level, and would not be replicated here.

a 14.8 here would be MINIMUM 15.5, not to mention the barometric pressure change which can affect performance even more (even up to 1 second slower or more then sea level for NA cars).

i live in calgary dude. i understand that we're higher elevation yada yada. i didn't say you could run 14.5 stock here with my car, i said with a ocuple of bolt ons maybe. 14.5 might be pushing it for sure, but for sure breaking the 15 second barrier should be possible here. i may take mine to SS this coming season to see what i can run. i've never done it before tho, so i wouldn't be the most trustworthy of drivers to base a decision on. i just kinda wanna see what i can do with my car personally. someone that knows how to launch properly would do better than me i'm sure. :D

If the Lancer would run say a 15.5 at our elevation, in order to drop a full second of his et would require more then basic bolt on mods (Ie Intake, exhaust, pullies perhaps? ecu)
Anyone remeber the baisc rule (ie. XXsec=XXhp estimate?)

Not hearing a turbo or S/C I would say NO2 for sure.....

Is your car stock? My guesssimate would be mid to high 15s with very very good driving. It is tough to get a good time in Calgary. Stock SRT-4s were running mid 14s last year and those guys make a few more ponnies...

Go4Long
01-06-2005, 05:46 PM
just look at it like you can drop like 5 tenths plus by going to Bud Park, and that's most deffinately not all in the altitude(track prep is way better). 14.8 at sea level would be lucky to see a 15 here, let alone a 14.

Someone should find that chart for elevation. But if i remmember off the top of my head , calgary adds on like 0.98 somethin to the ocean level times.
