My suggestion is get it inspected and run the VIN # at the registry.

Go 240sx and do what everyone else is doing sr20 swap and a silvia swap

make sure you factor in costs for repairs/maintenance when you budget yourself 3k... all these cars have quite high kms and will be prone to breaking down

Get quotes from your insurance company for the cars you've listed.

yea, wutever u buy , run the vin, get an inspection, ask for history and records. IMO the guys askin a tad much for the crx, the 240sx would be wut i reccomend, and its I4, not V4, haha.

make sure its free of leans and encumberances (run the vin, like everybody said). the camero and the trans both have the same engine in it, theyre both cheaper then the imports, and well what can i say, therye domestics  :D , id go for the trans am personaly, but thats just based on the styalicsics of the camero and how i dislaike them so...

240sx hands down. The American cars were just too unreliable at that time, and the CRX is a crappy car.

i think everyone has listed what to do.

1 - get it inspected by the dealership the car came from.
2 - run the vin
3 - take the crx for a drive and you'll fall in love

but dont 240sx's need a timing belt change at 200 000kms usually? If he only has 3g, he might be screwed in a few months..., but it is definatly the nicest of the 4 on the list. IMO

lol ya sorry timing chain, and i posted that he might not have the money because my friend was given an estimate of nearlly 1000 to do it at alot of shops..., he ended up doing it himself, as it was the smartest thing to do to save money. but if neocyber_16 (his first car) doesnt know how to do it 1000 is quite a bit....

Just a reminder:

1) even under new insurance law in Alberta, PLPD on a clean record, 1 yr licence drive will be $1800. That doesn't include insuring your ride and other possesion within it.

2) SR20DET (engine code) is a well respected tuner engine of choice, make pretty decent torque and HP.

3) RWD coupe may be expensive to insure

4) When you own cars older then a decade, get ready to pay repair bills. Get to know a mechanic that does good work.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong guys, doesn't car older than a decade requires a full inspection before it's insurable?

I think that depends on the insurer. I just insured an 85 bmw and wasn't asked for an inspection.
