In '95 Mazda kept the old style hatchback and badged it as the "323 S".

They also introduced an all-new redesigned 323 model for a brief 6 month period. This model was unique to Canada (and continued to be sold in Europe until fairly recently). They kept the old model b/c the new model's pricing was substantially higher, while the new model didn't sell particularly well because public awareness was low (as shown in the above posts) and the car was stealing sales of the then hugely sucessful and similarly priced MX-3 Precidia.

The engines were the same as those offered in the new style '95 Protege (they also kept the old style and badged it as Protege S).

In the GS, I believe the engine is a 1.5L, 92hp unit.

In the LS (noted for the alloy wheels and large rear spoiler), it's the 1.8L 122hp unit borrowed from the MX-5 Miata/Protege ES.

It might have been dark green or black ,can't remember exactly... It had a red sticker on the trunk/hatch that said "MX4 Special Edition" .

It might have been added by the owner..:dunno:

isn't the BP-T rwd or awd? that swap would be kind of expensive.
