Just wondering if anyone has any insight as to the renovation that is happening at the Husky station in Sundance.

OT: sunshine, what renos are they doing there??? bastards wouldn't even put new pumps in when we owned the place....shit kept scrweing up like every day and we just had to keep getting it repaired it...(ie: pumps goin out of service every day....)

Since nobody answer by question in the Husky 94 octane thread, I'll try it here:

I'm on 94 for 2 weeks now with my VQ35DE. I drive as I used to, with the same routes etc. 80% passive and 20% aggressive.

While I do feel a slightly better pick up then 91 (tho the difference could be just in my head). But gas consumption has increase form an average of 10.4 to 11L/100km, a ~6% increase.

I've heard that ethanol blended gas is weak and give poor mileage. Is this why?

I could be wrong, but I think that ethanol has less stored energy (sorry, but its been a long time since high school physics - I can't remember the proper terminology), so you would have to burn more to get the same power. Maybe you are into the throttle a little more than before to get the same acceleration, causing your fuel mileage to get worse. Also, unless you have a very high compression engine or have gone FI and need a high octane, it doesn't make sense to buy it. It may actually be worse for power on a car that doesn't need it, as the higher the octane, the slower the burn.

Compression is 10.3 for VQ35DE. And it should (an kinda feel like) it benefit from the higher octane. But the engine computer seems to recalibrated to cosume more fuel.

No NA car from the factory can make use of that 94 octane stuff here. Remember, we're at 3700ft, so our ambient pressure is already ~2psi lower than sea level, with a much bigger drop in cylinder pressures. Cars are calibrated to run on 91 octane at sea level, with wide safety margins for reliabiltiy and warranty reasons.

It means on a stock NA car that recommends 91 octane, you can run 89 octane here safely and make more power, better fuel economy, etc.

pumps wise i have no idea what they are doing.......the only fuel we carried were 84-87-91........we are now adding diesel and 94 octane. The pumps have since been replaced once already since my dad took it over and i don't think we've ever had a problem with them. They've been wroking fine. Husky can't make up their damn minds about renos. We found out like a few days before that we were going through renos so we had lots of pissed customers (which wasn't our fault) because we had no notice......we were supposed to have renos on the convenience store in june....that has yet to happen but my dad says it will eventually.

So basically for renos they are replacing all the underground tanks with new ones, replacing the used oil tank from the service bays, putting in new pumps

The Husky by my house sells 92 Octane as premium. I've seen 91 being sold as premium elsewhere. How much difference is there between 92-94.

Depends how agressive the car is tuned from the factory, and if boost control is relative or absolute.
