Saw a white Chevy Malibu on Crowchild yesterday, full body kit, lowered, Said Malibu SS on the back, do these come like this or did someone waste a lot of money?

It's stock.

I think it comes with the same 3800 V6 but just has a body kit and some other goodies.

EDIT: I thought you were talking about a impala, whoops.

I think it's just a dealers effort to get more of them of the lot, they do that sometimes with tough to sell models.

About 40 years ago. The highest level engine in a mid-sized chev is the 3.8 Supercharged.

3100, they aren't bad for low-end grunt but they suck above 4K.

my bad...meant 3.1...ah well, the new one is a 3.5

QuasarCav

The 3.5 Is a DOHC shared with the CTS and SRX. It's not bad, about time GM jumped on the bandwagon!

Are they using it in N-bodys? (grand am/prix)

the grand prix is not an N body, its a G body, and its already got a 3800 in it.

It already has a 3800?

I was talking about the new 3.5 VVT DOHC.

also i dont think it'd be possible to "use it in grand ams" since they are no longer being produced

grand prix's are using nothin but the 3.8L...the new G6 however is the 3.5L

n-body's are dead.

All the new replacements are epsilon, which is supposed to be alot stiffer.

I think you were confusing your Grand Am's with your Grand Prix's? :dunno:

Grand Am's had the 3400 as their biggest and Grand Prix's had the S/C 3800

really? an Ecotec in a grand am. Those must be really slow, I rape my buddies 3.4 grand am in my Cavalier.

they are pretty slow..my buddy has one with a 5spd...although with the 5spd they are almost as fast as the 3.4 auto...kinda sad really.

They run low to mid 16's in the 1/4.

My friend in Ontario has a CAI and cat back exhaust on his ecotec n-body and nothing else. He runs 15.4/15.5 (factory freak? I dunno but i've seen the slips)

Thats not bad at all. I hear the GM supercharger really cranks that engine up.

The cobalt is going to have a s/c'ed ecotec available in the SS (same setup as the ion redline).

205 hp, not bad at all.

I'd rather get my hands on a turbod one out of a saab though.

Also, an variable valve timed 2.4L ecotec is due out (shoulda been next year i think, but they are still working on it). Supposed to shoot for 170hp.. can't remember the torque.

Cool, knowing chevy it will be the same as the HP.

hopefully the cobalt is a success, I cant say much for the styling but it looks like GM is on the right track drivetrain wise.

I actually don't mind the styling except for the tail lights. The front looks alot like an RSX to me:

Actually, now that I went to get a pic to show what i'm talking about, I changed my mind. Doesn't really look like an RSX front at all:

And the back:
