I have been in contact with Tim Porter the Head organizer of this rally and he will give us a discounted rate. I am planning to attend this rally along with two forum members on another I visit. If I get a couple of beyond members in on this deal we will be able to pay a decent amount less then the $8,000 CDN regular fee(For 2 people). This is a trip of a lifetime and those of you fortunate enough to be able to participate we may as well do it now. It's taking place in eastern Canada, rally is Sept 18-23 2005 and more info here:

so is it less than 8k if you are from canada?

yes it will be less, I'm getting a group rate. If you ever wanted to do one of these events:

Gumball $18,000
Players Run $13000
Cannonball Canada - under $8,000 for beyond members

These trips all offer a similar level of luxury, but this one is the most financially feasible in my mind.

Any idea how far under 8 grand it will be? I think I could afford just over 5, that's a lot of money for a cruise, I'm not high rollin that hardcore.

If it's anything like the real gumball and players run, a couple of W124s and a C230 would look kinda silly....lets pay thousands of dollars to look out of place wooooo hoooo LOL:D

Lets say we think low and get a deal of $7,000 per car.

Thats $3,500 per driver, for seven days of excitement, thats $500 a day. Now I'm sure many beyonders have spent $250 in a night at their favorite watering hole. $500 a night for first class hotels and parties (helicopter rides, mega yachts etc...) seems cosher to me.

As for myself Zorro I will be going in an e46 coupe of my friends, we will share driving duties and I look forward to it. Even renting a 300C with 340 horses from Budget will also do the trick with flying colors, and won't put mileage, damage or shipping charges to your tab. Zorro your car is very nice itself and would be very comfy on the drives, in the cannonball it's not about what car you drive but about having fun and meeting new friends (including some ladies), much different then the gumball where they actually screen your car to make sure you're good enough for the event.

Still, I believe $8000 is to prevent every ricer to attend. Keep all the rides in the in the upper $100K+ range so it'll be a spectacle.

If every ricer show up with thier 96 Civic and 98 tegs, then what's the diff between this and a standard free beyond meet hence further devalue the event and make $8000 even more worthless.

As popular saying goes, if you ask how much, you can't afford it.

that would be kinda fun, has anyone ever been before and is it like the acutal gumball rally 3000 when you bomb ass down highways at 200 mph. that would be pretty fun,...............................................until you get arested

Ahh...see I was under the impression that it was mostly 'rari's and lambos or high end BMW and MB, where our cars would be weak in comparison...

It does sound like a fairly good deal considering meals and hotels are included....

I'll consider it if I can pick up a W124.036....

I'm not to familiar with aged MBs, I imagine a nicely torqued 3.6 litre engine.... let me know about it, so you gonna tranfer your body kits etc....

But this event isn't for another 11 months so all you beyonders still have alot of time to decide and put some cash aside. It took me about 3 months to decide after I initially found out about the rally, it's not a decision where this thread will change your mind, time will.

w124.036 is the 500E, 5.0L V8 320HP stock, the car was handbuilt with a collaboration by porsche and MB....the fenders are wider so you can fit 285's in the back, so there is no way i can use the same body kit on my 300e, only 40% of the parts are the same between the 300E and 500E

but enought about that, it's time to start saving for the trip!

Are you still negotiating??? I am DEFINITELY very interested - just joined this (great) board yesterday, so please excuse if I am asking an out-of-date question. If so, I am near Ottawa and could do some local legwork for the group. If this is no longer current, do you know some other Canadian group/board/forum which is trying to get in as a group? Thanks so much...

Old thread, but none the less. The akarally is alot cheaper then this, and it doesnt take part in our home country.

http://www.akarally.com/#

3000$us for 2 people. Includes hotel etc... And dont have to worry about dealing with somewhat "local" police.

So, it's $8000, and you can still get arrested, and lose your car.... not worth it :)

I heard the guy talking on rutherford about it....anyhow, its about the journey, not the destination, the fun and the trip, its 4200km over 5 days, route determined at each checkpoint. Anyone with the fee enters, they anticipate 120 cars....there are a number of applicants already signed up, including a few sport compact guys, some rich folk with fast ass cars, and even a few firefighters who entered a firetruck (racing for charity)....a couple years back, a rick group even entered an old cop car (think 70's), and finished 69th, they said it was a blast.....I'm thinking about it, but gonna garner some support with my job (as charity) for the fees and such......anyhow, deadline is Aug 18th!
