I believe it was 91 where they put in the SR20DET. They didn't change the name, because to everyone it was already known as a 180sx...

Also in other parts of the world where the Silvia were also sold like in Australia, & Europe, the S14 & S15 were both called 200SX.

Yeah the older 180sx had the ca18det which is 1.8 L hence 180sx...just like the 240sx has a 2.4L..

Not just the 180SX had the CA18DET, the Silvia also did too. So when the engine change came in 1991, both models changed to the SR engine. That's why I'm gonna wait until 2006 to get my Silvia :D

It's already been answered, but just wanted to say that South Africa also had the 200sx. Prob only came out in 91 there hence the sr20det.

It's quite sweet because the same year the sr20 came out in the rest of the world and the body changed, the same thing happened in North America with the engine switching to the double overhead cam KA24DE and the body changing aswell.

oh i know, but as for waiting until 2006? dude i was thinking the same thing, but i said hey skrew it, i'll buy one now, drive it for 2 years and then when the SR's are available you move up. hell you can even do the swap for cheap...sell the CA for 1800-2000$ and buy an SR for 2500. although i'm keeping my CA regardless as it is a stronger build quality. I'm planning on driving my 89 until the S14's are available and then step up. Other than that there is nothing that can separate me and my sil:D
