this is what happens when you take a corner too fast and too close to the edge of the road.

Luckily i walked away with minor scratches cause the last guy that went through this turn wasn't too fortunate to walk away at all. I guess one guy passed away in this same corner and before that they picked up 7 riders in 1 weeks time and i guess i was the luckiest at my speed.

just a couple kms after canmore on the old 1A highway and i was coming into the corner at about 140kms and slowed down to about 100-120kms and then a dead stop hitting that damn embankment.

i was pretty close to the edge and there was a piece of road missing which i hit a threw me off the road. you can see that piece of road missing at the bottom of the picture with the rcmp car

dam dude.. i've never taken that road before.. but now i'm curious to what it's like.. glad you're ok though, the gear saved your ass i take it? I don't understand how you bailed.. you were going 140, then down to 120, then a dead stop? was it because of cars infront of you? your back tire lost grip? :dunno:

EDIT: I don't see the point in giving him shit for speeding.. we're all old enough to take responsibility and don't need people shoving it down their throats to get the point across.

i had a buddy die on that road earlier this year (6RR_SOL). you're very lucky.

from what i can tell (and my experience riding that road), you need to take another riding course, maybe a race school. not bashing you, just giving some advice. 100km/h is not very fast for that road, and there is really no reason you should've crashed.

anyway, too bad about the bike, but glad you're ok.

i was going into it at about 150kms and like i said just took a bad line and took the turn too wide. and if that piece of the road was there i think i would have made it but i didn't so yeah i would just need more experience. But sorry to hear about your buddy (R.I.P!)cause they told me about that after. but yeah i'm kinda pissed that i wrecked that bike cause there was only a few in town. went to go look at some bikes today and i think i might go with a new GSXR600 or the new KAWASAKI 600RR

The thing is that his accident sounds like rider error. I have never taken a race school but heard that they can make you a much better rider on the street.

Don't worry about the crash. Everyone does sooner or later. I personally think crashing is a hell of a lesson in its own. Just because you crash doesn't mean your a bad rider.

Not that he needs to but having that little more training ould have given him the confidence, and knowledge to know he could have avoided it buy leaning the bike way over...

Until I rode on hte track I thought I was pretty fast (well not as fast as SOAB) but after the track I realized I could sure throw the bike over a lot more...

There is no feeling like going into a turn, thinking you're too hot, and too wide, leaning another 2 inches and making it out OK...

my front wheel is actually pushed into the fork on the right side and the tire is seperated from the rim by dirt from the impact.

Me and my buddy were thinking of going down in May/June.

I'll have a 954 by then, and he just got his '04 750 after someone jacked his last one.
2 of my other buddies will be just starting to ride (2 cbr600rr) and then might tag along as well.'

This is why I had second thoughts towards buying a bike.. I absolutely LOVE everything about sport bikes, but really.. Everyone gets into at least one crash in their life, no matter how minor, and if you're on your bike during that crash, there could be HUGE consequences, even death. Glad to see you're alright

you're right, there are lots of things that can't be avoided, but this incident was caused by inexperience. a race school will raise his abilities and let him know his limits much more than riding on the street can do.

i'll bet i could even predict what went through his mind at the moment....

going into the turn, roll off the throttle and squeeze a little brake. lean it in and start to panic thinking "i'm not gonna make it!!" let off the throttle completely and stared straight into the ditch. and thats where he ended up.

is that what happened?

WOW!!!! Looks like you have all the answers buddy. You don't know how or why he went down so how can you say a race school would have helped, shit happends and thats that. Most riders go down no mater how many race schools they take, you could have years and years of riding behind you and shit just happends, like in his case the road was all messed up. So don't be such a fool.

as for this incident, i know for a fact that 100km/h is SLOW for that road. how? cause i can do it at 130 one handed, and i am slow on the track, thats how. almost all single motorcycle accidents are rider error.

first things first, glad u walked out of it,
secondly, u need more experience, 1a can be ridden much harder than 110, if uve only been riding for 2 months its probably rider error, but like ppl said, everyone crashes and u gotta make the best of it
i try to avoid 1a from exshaw to calgary(ive seen drunk natives in the middle of the highway), but eshaw to canmore section is good minus the mountain goats

also , why would u get a kwak

you don't seem to know everything now do you, yeah i may be a new rider, but guess what "going into the turn, roll off the throttle and not squeeze alittle brake as that would straighten out the bike. lean it in and did not panic what so ever buddy. i thought i was going to make until there was a piece of road missing. on the throttle and leaned alittle more but hit the bump and lost it and went into the ditch.

remember i was going 150 into it and by the time i hit the pot hole i was going about 100-120. now since you can do it at 130 one handed, try it cause i know you probably won't and you will fall and when that happens good for you and i hope you don't hurt yourself too much.:thumbsdow

I know SOAB can rail that road at over 150... Oh wait did I just say that... I mean he would never speed...

Lets all just face fact that a mistake was made somewhere... Where... who cares...

Lets all really ask ourself how fun that road really is... I'll give it a 2/10 after being at the track, or in BC...

thanks dericer. i don't mean to sound harsh, but i've seen and heard this too many times. crashing sucks bad.

i just thought i would give a little advice, and people jumped on me for it, so i defended myself. imo, every sport bike rider should take a race school at least once.

and track school is a must, all u newbies want to ride fast, gain more knowledge and experience the instructors can give u valuable advice.... and one hand in a car doin 130 is nothin, try it on a bike in a apex....LOL:thumbsup: rider error is mostly a cause for accidents, usually riders mis judge turns etc etc...i have done it too! but we all learn from our mistakes!! so no more arguin and ride SAFE!:nut:

the ZX6R has 636cc's. the ZX6RR has 599cc's. this is used for supersport racing.

SOAB

yes, and by all reports that i've heard, the ZX6RR is underpowered compared to all the other 600's out there. but that doesn't really matter unless your part of the Hayden family.

Good to hear you walked from that.

There are two types of riders. The ones that think they are good and the ones that know that they can get better.

Take a race course. Best thing anyone can do.
