My mom is going to get a new car soon and she is stuck between a mazda 3 or a mazda 6. So i was wondering what you guys think of either of the mazdas and if you guys could tell me how they perform. I was leaning towards a mazda 6 sport.

Of course the Mazda 6 is the better car, probably in every way except the price. lol

However the finance rates are low enough with the Mazda 6 that your monthly payment is almost identical to that of the Mazda 3. Go figure...

While Mazda 3 is best in class. Mazda 6 isn't at any price point.

Since you're comapring 3 to 6, I assume you're not interested in the V6 so I'll leave that out.

Both the top 3 and base 6 share the same engine. With 6's tunes for slightly more torque. But it doesn't really matter since 6 is 150Kg heavier than 3.

Power-wise 3 is peppier than 6 due to the weight difference but unless you're driving manual, they are both actually quite slugish. Once you get over the initial torque, there's nothing in the following power band. While that acceptable in compact class, it down right horrible in mid-size (same complain about the 6's V6 vs other's on the market).

Suspension is where both these 2 cars excel at. Mazda 6 is probably the best handling mid-size there is for the price range. 3 is not bad either since it's C1 platform also share with S40/V50, it's solid.

Styling, both looks great with appearance option but kinda plain without. Both are easy on the eyes.

Interior wise, the layout and design is great but quality of material is not. But everyone is cheaping out on interior material these days except Toyota and Honda so it's not really that bad.

So for a base price of 6, you get a fully pimped out 3. Unless you like to have more room, 3 is probably your better bet.
