Almost went with the Legacy GT and Acura TL but I think I am close to going for a 03 G35 Coupe. Any owners here that wants to share your love and hate for the car? Other opinions? I have always had MT but I think I will go with the 5AT this time.

to my knowledge, Acura TL had a recall on its tranny.

if you are in no hurry you can wait 3 months for Mercedes Benz C320 Cdi with around 450 lbs of torque or the new C350 with 270 hp gas engine and order these to your exact dimensions from the factory. Or buy a slightly used C32AMG. Go for MB or BMW if you do alot of highway driving, if not then all those you mentioned are fine decisions.

C350 2 door- $39K + options
C350 4 door- whatever a c320 costs now
C350 CDI probably $2,400 more then the 350
C32 AMG I can help you find an 03 with about 25,000 KM loaded for about $49K, warranty is up to 80K 4 yrs b-to-b (4.7-4.9 seconds to reach 100)

The BMWs and MBs seem to hold up much better after many years and change design only once every 7 years. I drive an 02 TL Type S as well and it drives like a boosted accord. You can also buy MBs and BMWs with All Wheel drive, but rear wheel drive with ESP and traction is sufficent for Calgary IMO.

Wait for the 05 G35's. They will see a revision on the interior and front fascia and also receive a modest power bump. Also the 35's have been plagued with lots of small problems which are supposed to be fixed in the 05's. Things like computers, seats, trannys, wheels, and Nissans shittiest part, the radio. They are reliable, as none of things that break require the car to be towed in, but if you don't like having to take your car in to get fixed at least once a month for minor things, I say wait for '05.

I've been in my coworkers G35 several times and I'm quite impressed. Power in any gear any RPM. Very smooth motor and nice exhaust tone. Good fit and finish plus a decent stereo. He drives it like he stole and the Brembo brakes do their job very well along with the stability control. Very nice ride all around...

we've got an '03 G35 coupe (auto), which i drive semi-regularly.
here's what i like:
-was said in a previous post, but there's lots of power in any gear.
-the stereo sounds great, and the 6 disc in-dash is very convenient.
-navigation is cool, but don't use it very often. i'd go without.
-handles well when you want it to (easy on the gas).
-seats have great lateral support
-brakes are very touchy, but you'll stop on a dime.
-exhaust note is sweet.
-looks like da shiznit

what i don't like:
-dvd-navigation system only accepts dvd-navigation dvd's, nothing else.
-i find the seats terribly uncomfortable.
-stock tires are mediocre. take the money you'll save on the navi and get summer/winter sets.
-exhaust noise can get annoying at highway speeds.
-getting in/out of the backseat is not recommended.. i'm 6' and i don't fit, plus the automatic seat moving mechanism is slow as hell and it doesn't reset your seat to where it was before (it's a small thing but annoying)

btw it's not the aero package or whatever it's called. has the 17-inch wheels, no brembo's.

if you have any specific questions, i'll try to give specific answers.

Nissan is under a class-action lawsuit regarding premature rotor and pad wear on the G35. Last year, Nissan implemented a warranty ammendment to cover the costs of rotor and pad replacements within the first 3 years of ownership. After the 3 years, you'll be stuck with the same problem though.

This is only a problem on cars with non-brembo brakes. If you have brembos you're good to go.

This was the main reason why I sold my G35. Replacing brakes every 19000 km just doesn't cut it for me. I sold the car when it had 48000 km and I had the rotors and pads replaced twice under warranty.

If the Brembos on the G35 are same as the 350Z track package.... http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread.php?s=&threadid=42611&highlight=brembo+350z

19k for brakes and rotors...harsh... From what BMW owners have mentioned, they seem to have some pretty aggressive wear on the rotors and pads as well, but not to the point of requiring replacement in 19k.

G35 it with some Skyline badges :D

Personally i would go with the manual tranny i liked driving it more. Something you could ponder over while on a test drive.

Things i liked:
-Lots of power and torque
-Fits a tall guy like myself comfortably
-Sweet exhaust note
-Handles superb

In all honesty, there wasn't anything I disliked about the car. As a bonus a lot of aftermarket parts are available for the G35 and 350z.

Have you considered a 350z? It has a bit more power, but lacks having as smooth of a ride.

Hmm I never considered the G35c or 350z. When I gave my leased 02 Maxima SE back the guy asked if I want t 350z and he would make me a good deal. I said I don't need a two seater.

Looked at the coupe and like it. Back seats were bigger than I though. I would consider a 350z, but like to have the option of 2 more girlfriends (joke). I like the Z's outside better, and the G's interior.

At about 15000k on our Z, the rear discs were "heat" spotted and the rear pads totally destroyed... Good ol Nissan design, having the rear discs wear out before the fronts?:dunno: Anyways wait for the 05 to get rid of all the bugs.

I'm refering to the campaign that Nissan has on for the rotors and brakes do not include any 350s or G35s with brembos because there is no premature brake wear.

From what I have experienced the brake wear on my 330ci is normal. With the G35 the wheels are black from brake dust after driving it from the car wash.

I had to replace my rotors and pads at 15,000kms on my 323I. Pissed me off!!!!

G35 coupe is a beautiful car, but if you're looking at a sedan get something different... The sedan looked like it was designed as an after thought, doesn't look good at all.

Legacy Gt and dont look back. lol but then again i think there is a price difference in the g35 and the legacy. i love the sound of the g35 but a boxer sounds just as good. lol go test drive em both back to back and report back
