Is turboing a carb'ed car as easy as turbo'ing a FI? Just make sure the floater is under boost as well, or what?

it can be done but you will need to be a carb tuning god to get close the results of the worst butt dyno EFI tuner

I know a carb tuning god, and it doesn't need to be impressive numbers, just 5-7 psi of boost is fine.

I heard setting up the EFI turbo setup is alot easier then a carb turbo setup but I've seen a few cars with it done that pull some nice numbers so im sure if you took your time with it and got your carb god buddy to help you, you coudl do it, let us know what happens.

don't waste your time, there's a reason that turbos wern't very popular until efi became so common.

Well, its either that or convert the car to EFI... which I don't feel like :)

Frotn what ive heard its a bloody bitch to do :S, and it would be unique to have a turbo carb vehicle driving around around here, you dont see to many of them.

I met a guy who yanked the turbo, put a performance manifold & carb with headers and the car was quiker.

turbo riviera's on the other hand were turbo 3.8 carb's, equipped with an air research t3, .60 intake housing, .82 exhaust housing. i've heard some older monte carlo's had these as well.

Do not even try and compare an 80 trans am with a DRAW THRU carb to what he would do with a BLOW THRU carb, that makes an utterly massive difference in how your car runs. I used to own a 93 mustang when I lived in Ontario, with a 351W motor .030 over, some iron windsor heads ported, vic jr. intake, 750 holley, extreme velocity/superior air flow carb bonnet and a non intercooled vortech YS-trim. It was a pretty mild setup, but went low 11's @ 127 on bald ET drags and pump gas. If I did not tell you it was a carb'ed car, you would not believe me, that's how smoothly it ran.

My bits of advice? Read This Article (http://www.hangar18fabrication.com/blowthru.html) for what to do to your carb to prep it for boost, sign up to the blowthru group on yahoo, and check out www.turbomustangs.com, the moderator of the carb forum on there has a pretty mild setup, 302 inch R-block motor, PT74 turbo, a carb, an off-the-shelf FRPP cam, home made turbo headers, and it put down 770 RWHP/836 RWTQ shutting the car down at 5000 because it was starting to go lean. He has made the jump to a carb with annular boosters, and that should fix the fuel delivery issues with an extreme amount of fuel like he's pushing. Don't believe the hype that carb's and turbos/blowers don't run well. A blow-thru carb car is into the 7's at over 185 MPH with a small block ford and a single turbo. Another guy on turbomustangs.com has gone 6.50 @ 105 in the 1/8 mile on a bone stock 302 longblock, a pair of turbos, and a carb. That's like a low 10 @ 135 in the 1/4 mile. The guy who did that writeup on how to build a blow-thru carb has gone 9.8's @ 138 MPH in a vega with a stock 350 2-bolt block, stock cast crank and rods, and some .030 over pistons, once again with a carb.
