Just curious, what does everyone here think of the new supposed chrysler supercar? Apparently it is supposed to begin production soon....

I like it. The rear end is a bit abstract for my taste but I'd take one in a heartbeat. I'm guessing that the Chrysler name will make this car more affordable then your average exotic supercar:dunno:

Yeah the engine is a purpose built AMG-tuned Mercedes Benz engine... it doesn't get any more super than that...

Wait yes it does! 850 horsepower, 850 lb.feet of torque across most of the power band. :thumbsup:

it was a merger that put them together but for all intents and purposes the former Daimler-Benz bought the Chrysler group of companies (Chrysler / Plymouth(at the time) / Dodge / Jeep and some heavy truck manufacturer).

It's not a merger, it's a buyout. You don't see a Hemi in a Merc now, do ya? But every Mercede part find their way into Chrysler products.

There were/are some lawsuit flying around from pre-merger Chrysler owners saying it's a takeover instead of merger of equal. Plus most senior management is sent/approve by Germans.

But all the better.

Back to ME412, Even if it's ever going production, don't expect the engine to stay there. It's more likely to be fitted with an AMG 5.5L V8 good for around 500HP and sell for $140K USD. Similar to Ford GT.

loks pretty sweet, but if it goes into production i doubt it'll look the same.

if this is 500 000 USD then this is a terrible deal ... the SLR has about the same MSRP

It's actually the same speed to 60mph, and it doesn't get better from there. And I bet it can't go around a corner... at all.

It's also 5 years newer and supercharged. If I supercharged a 360 I could get 600hp out of it, and it's 1500lbs lighter (Hamann makes a supercharging kit that gets 600hp from the 360)

The 360 actually looks good, and the 430 which is coming out within a year of the SLR, has 50 less hp yet weighs 1500lbs lighter.

Cars that go these speeds are going to have similar shapes - the aerodynamics limit what shapes can be used.

man im so sick of all your my DAD's 360 is the best car out there comments... the 360 dont even compares to the SLR, thats why ferrari build the enzo... thats more like the same class... the 360 is just a poor man's ferrari.. (as in the lowest model)
