system help!

i run two clarion 400w dual voice coil 10'' subs off of a 1000w sony xplode amp...and it used to work fine, but recently when turned up past a certin level the subs shut off...they arent blown you can tell by the sound produced at a lower sound level but they dont turn up loud anymore! any help?

Try a different amp.

the amp is going into protection (clipping) you will see a little light on the amp when this happens. the problem is more likly your subs. if you turned them up when they were really cold they can get little burns on the voice coil. if you have an ohm meter you can check the impedance of the sub and make sure its still all good.
