Looking into purchasing a Mid 90's M3 soon
and was wondering what sort of Insurance costs you were all paying?

If you could post your

AGE
and
Year of your car.

And tell me if your car is considered to be a "sports car"

Sigh .. that is the problem ... insurance for a 328I may be just 10% OR 15% more then a 318 ... but like M3 ? ! :banghead: :banghead: I can't remember the rating .. like "7" for 328, but then jump to "13" (something like that, not sure how the insurance scale works !)

:banghead: cost me like near $2k for M3 insurance ! and I have few tickets .. of course .. :(

Age: 18 clean record

Car: 1998 BMW M3

Insurance: $3800/yr full coverage

I doubt it's considered a sports car...it's a 4 door...but I really don't know

I'm sure its considered a sports car. I mean insurance companies aren't retarded. But then again, they think a 2door civic is a sports car :dunno:

Even the four-door M3 models are considered a sports car. Just cause there's four doors doesn't mean it can't move and/or handle like the 2-door 3.2l M3. Insurance companies know this. :)

Well .. anyway .. when there is " M " insurance is sky high ! ( almost same rating as a Porsche 911 )

That is one reason why, scare many young drivers ! when I got my first M3 5 yrs ago .. Insurance was sky high too .. :(

How about if you tell the insurance company, that will be your weekend car ? and only put less then 10K a yr ? :)

Im new to calgary, so not well versed in the whole alberta insurance thing

$4000K for insurance on a 7 yr old car seems extremely HIGH

would MY ins be lower?

No tickets
no accidents

or
is the fact that the car is a "level 13", mean that I will always pay $$$ for insurance?

I'm paying $1178 per year full coverage for pleasure use on my 97 M3/4. When I used the car for commuting this past summer, it was $180 more per year.
