Alternater probs with sound system

Hay everyone, i just put two kicker 10' comps with a rockford 500w amp and kicker 200w amp aswell as a power cap into my 98 isuzu rodeo. and a couple weeks later my alternator burnt out. Is there any way i can tell if my system is drawing to much power or if it was something else that caused the alt to go. Cause i dont really wanna hook my system up if its gonna cost me another 300 for a new alt.

Any susgestions.

Buy a voltage meter and as your subs are pounding check if its sucks the juice to much
