they did. it was only in a very small production number though....

they caught wind that guys were slapping the front end off the silvia onto the 180sx and started doing it from the factory. still, very limited numbers.

I beleive 4-500 were produced. Being so rare, they still get really high prices at Japan auctions, some as high as 2.4million yen, which is comparable to a perfect condition R32 Skyline GTR.

japan is all about the conversions, best one I saw was soapra(soarer front end on a supra). worst one I saw was a new generation celica front end on a 180SX.

Not true, this is a rumor. Nissan did not build '500' sil-eightys, a company called Kid's Heart sold sil-eighty's to local dealers..

500 sileighty's were put together by Kids heart yes, they've also done s14's and s15's. They are still Nissans.

I beleive nissan had a small part in doing it as well, thus creating such a controversy over who actually was responsible. The real sil-80's can be identified by the garnish on the rear and also the side windows reading "Sileighty". The only picture of an authentic one i've seen was a kouki Type X style sil80, I'm unsure if they used only Type X's or if they made them in the varying trim levels (Type 1, Type 2, Type S etc.)
anyone have any pics of the real ones they have sitting around?

I once read from a 180/240 production info sheet and it said Nissan did infact made a limited production amount of Sil80s, but i have me abouts about the facts in there

Technically they didn't come out a Nissan factory as sileightys, but they're still classified as a Nissan due to the fact that they are entirely composed of Nissan parts.

It's either countless sites are wrong and you two are right about Kids Heart - but onevia's were never made from the factory - but sileighties were, for a year I think? or two.. Very limited numbers as has been stated ... *shrug*
