Online Holdem Poker question

I know there are a few Holdem players on here.. I just recently got my buddy hooked on playing it.. Anyways, he was thinkin about getting the boys together and play for some real money, nothing big probably .5/1 or maybe even just .25/.50.. He's up in Edmonton so it's not like he can drive down once a week to play.

Anyways, any of you guys play for real money online? if so, how hard is it to setup? I'm thinking I can probably make a room on Pokerroom or Pokerstars since I play on both.. But I just thought I'd ask anyone here who play for real money online.. I've never done it before, I've only played for real money at a real table.

its like whats the point of losing money online by just clicking when you can go lose it at a real casino.

but Im learning how to play as welll, got hoooked by all those poker tourny show on TV.

if you guys ever want to get a online beyond poker game going ( NOT with real money), let me know. or if there's ever a poker game in edmonton, I might be interested :P

that's the point, we want to play with real money once a week, but my buddy can't drive down from Edmonton every week to play one game. If we could play at a real table we would.

I've played online and I'm sure you can set up a private room although I've never done that before.
How do you even play .25/.5 or even .50/1? Everyone will call anyway. :rofl: I have a tough time playing 4/8 because everyone still goes runner runner.

Anyhow, we should get a Beyond Poker night going sometime. We can do it at my restaurant, only appropriate since it's a Chinese restaurant, known for illegal activities. haha:rofl: :thumbsup:

hah, well none of us have very much money and we're only going to only put in 20 bucks per game, so I think for that much .5/1 would be appropriate.. if we were playing for more money then yeah that's a different story :D

most sites have around 50US minimum anyways don they?

rake is like rent.. the house charges you a rake for using their table pretty much.

For example on pokerstars it says for your limits the rake is $0.25 a pot up to $1 max.

Imagine the lowest rake for each hand, thats $1 every four hands. Kind of a lot considering the average buy-in for your game will be $20, and online hands will go a lot faster than a regular home game.

edit: maybe try finding a site that lets you create private play money tables, and treat the play money as real money and settle up the debts somehow. Not sure what site allows you to do this though.
