I don't know yet, maybe some stiffer springs or coil sleeves - I haven't made up my mind yet.

Last chance for cheap/free parts!!

Tom's towing away the 92 sedan on Friday. We've been picking away at it for the last week, but if you stop by he'll basically let you take anything off of it. I've already filled my wagon up once with crap...and I'm going back this week. There's lots of good stuff still in there.

Lewis, sounds like you've had enough fumes for one day! I'm going to head back there tomorrow night I think...I'll just clear it with tom. FYI, if you guys need anything, PM tomsweet1990, he's the guy with the car. He'll know exactly what's left. Get on it quick....the brake offer is getting heated, so it looks like the car is going to be gone tomorrow. Does anyone know where the fuel relay is located? I want to snag that so I have a spare.

I need bumper lenses too, I'll let my thread explain that.

My gen 2 oil pan threads are going.

some say to tap it, others say get a new pan.

Its cheaper to tap it, i was wondering if anyone knew where to get this done.

if i get a new pan, how hard is it to replace with a new one?

thanks

d

freakin
07-28-2005, 06:54 PM
I'd just replace the oil pan if you can find a decent used one. Or just pull the pan off and then tap it. I wouldn't want the slivers sitting in my oil pan afterwards.

The pan comes off very easily, it's about 20 bolts and nuts, then it should just come right off once you move the exhaust out of the way. Buy a new oil pan gasket for the reassembly, and you're done. If you're not feeling adventurous, you might want to drain the oil beforehand.

This pic isn't a B18A, but it's still a B-series. You can see all of the holes and studs around the lip. (for those interested, this is an early spy shot of my new motor)

Why's CC #2 so dirty and the rest clean?

freakin
07-28-2005, 08:35 PM
It looked like something was spilled down the cylinder. I couldn't tell what it was, but it came off when I wipped it with a rag. You can actually see the marks where I was wiping it off. It didn't pit the wall, so it should come out clean when after being honed and hot tanked.

Guess who is back in the game heh heh. ok so it wasn't the tranny or the clutch. It was my cat.:banghead: I guess my car is to low and smashed the cat fricken up the car. so mr. holy crap. who'd figure that your cat would've created the symptons that you had. learn sumting new everyday.......glad you got it figured out though.

BTW. Anyone ever remove a flywheel? I'm having a bitch of a time trying to get the bolts to break. I managed to find a socket and breaker bar and still can't get them to budge. Quasar, thanks for the offer, would one of those 17mm 12 point sockets be 1/2" impact? The stuff I got yesterday is only a 3/8" regular type socket and I'm thinking it might not be enough.

frostyda9
07-28-2005, 10:32 PM
Mike did you soak those bad boys in some penetrating oil or something like that yet? If not, I'd try that. Otherwise, get a longer bar :P

frozenrice
07-28-2005, 10:37 PM
Yeah sprayed them down with 3in1 penetrating oil. The problem I'm having is that they're on so tight that when I try reefing on the bar, I end up lifting/moving the whole engine block.

freakin
07-28-2005, 10:56 PM
Dan,
That's crazy that a cat caused all of that. Never would've guessed it from the symptoms you described.

Mike,
Can you put a block of wood under the engine to keep it form turning? Failing that, you can borrow my impact gun and compressor if you need it. I don't have to proper socket though.

danlowteg
07-28-2005, 11:24 PM
cats are now my most hated part on any car. and for them bolt's use a huge bar like 6 feet long that's what i used for my buddys car. but the engine was out of the car so :dunno:

ok guys, i have a problem. when i make left turns there comes a strange squeal from under the passenger side, near the back of the car. it sounds a little like the brakes, but i'm not too sure. it started earlier today, and only got worse. it's now at the point where i almost don't have to be turning to hear it; but when i do, it's super loud. if anyone has any ideas, please let me know. i do appreciate it.

If you're sure it's comming from the back, take a look that nothing's bent or come loose and is rubbing. After that, I'd jack it up and see if the wheels spin freely. I'd it's a brake problem, either a bad caliper or pad. Not sure why it would sound louder when turning though.....Does the pitch change with the vehicle speed? When one of my wheel bearings went it sounded like a low hum all the time. I didn't have time to fix it and drove to Vancouver with it like that. Managed to make it and fix on when I got home. Not a smart thing to do though.

Mike, I'm not going to make it to Sylvan, but you knew that already.

Went and got a proper 1/2" drive socket and 20" breaker bar and worked like a charm.

Lewis, Matt, Dave, thanks for the tips and offer of tool loans. The socket size and shape was what I needed but had a difficult time finding. I probably didn't need to ask, but at least you were there in a worst case scenario.

Dave, the one I took of your car was way overexposed, I couldn't even get a decent correction with the editing software that I have.

Naw. I do enough stuff at home with them. The last thing I need is a kid to keep an eye out on during a cruise- he might steal one of your cars. In reality, he'd be bored if there were no other kids his age to play with. I'd end up with a cranky kid and all that.

Let get some stats about your kid.
Boy/girl? size/weight? How's mom doing?

I think the heat from this weekend is getting to me. I'm finding a lot of stuff absolutely hilarious for some odd reason or another. Anyways, here something else that made me laugh quite hard too: (you da owners with no rear wiper will appreciate this one)

Nice pics guys, I'm loving the wings!

What a fucking ordeal my wheels went through. Friday night I decide it would be a good idea to paint them gunmetal, well after trying to get them to look right I gave up. They looked like shit and I was embarrassed to drive my car (frostyda9 and freakin can back me up). So I bought some silver paint and return them to stock. They end up looking even worse, all blotchy and dull looking. So Monday I bought a big can of paint thinner and went to town. It took about 4 hours and 750ml of thinner to remove the layers of paint. Then the factory clearcoat decided to say hello. I finished one wheel but then I ran out of thinner. The wheels are going to look awesome when I'm finally done, all polished and shiny.

Intalled the energy suspension rear sway bar bushing, what a difference. Feels like a bigger swaybar and you can really tell. The back corners really flat. All this for 9.00.

Thats all for me.

Damn, looks like you guys had a good time!! I ended up heading out near Red Deer late on Sunday evening. I was looking out for a convoy, but didn't see anyone. Sandino, nice pics, and dave....nice mullet. Who's EL is that? I didn't realize that NSX's have soo much wheelwell gap.

This pic is gold!

Lewis, sucks about the wheels. I didn't want to say anything on Saturday....but the finish on the wheels looked pretty bad. Sounds like they're cleaning up nicely though. Are you removing the clearcoat as well? If you do, you could polish them up and have a little bling on your ride, lol. I'd had a hard time trying to get a gunmetal look on my Volvo wheels and just ended up with flat black afterwards. I've heard that if you find a duplicolor titanium, that it looks pretty close. All of the older Volvo guys do this to their 'Virgo' wheels. It looks pretty good.

Lewis, they didn't look THAT bad, just a little speckled. I was just joking when I said they'd look good on the pink Skyline  Anyways, if you ever decide to sell them let me know....I am a huge fan of SiR's

Ahh, I think I've met Jen. Dave was that the lady you introduced me to at Race City a couple of weeks ago?

If anyone's interested, I'm going to arrange a group buy on some buttons for aftermarket steering wheels.

It's a Sparco product that will fit any of these 6-bolt steering wheels. My idea is to use the buttons for cruise control. Once I swap steeringwheels, I'm going to lose the factory buttons. I could relocate them to somewhere else, but I like the idea of keeping them on the wheel. This is nice and clean plus is works as a small spacer for all of you guys that are hitting your knuckles on the indicator and wiper levers. The part is $45 USD + $21.50 shipping. I'm thinking we can bundle a bunch or orders together and split the shipping and duty charges. We should be able to get them to around $60 canadian once everything is factored in. Let me know if you're interested. I'll post this up on ABTegs once their site is back up and running.

First thing I thought of when i saw that pic is..... NOS.

The wheels are coming along, I am doing one per night because it's so time consuming and the paint thinner makes me dizzy. I have 1 done and the other 3 have the sparkle removed just so I can drive them without wearing a disguise.

Admit it, you were making out with some raver chick while you were painting them.

Anyone up for some mountain biking in Fish Creek tomorrow evening? I'm going to put my bick back together tonight so that it's ready to roll. Lewis (QuasarCav) is in so far.
Dave, Sandino, anyone else intersted in joining us? Nothing crazy, just some single track around the Woodbine/Evergreen area. Last time we went around the Bonavista area, but that was a little on the flat side. I'm also open to suggestions if anyone wants to ride something else.
