Any idea what the cost would be for valve job? I don't know if thats the prob, but I notice a little tick when idled. When running it seems ok.

Also, you with leather seats, do you find it ok in the winter? This is my first set of non-heated leather seats.

My going rate for an adjustment is $40, it has to be done when the engine is cold.

I did mine when I first got the car and I couldn't notice that the engine was even on. Your oil might also be worn down.

If you wouldn't mind I've got this noise thats driving me crazy. I searched g2ic and figured it was the rocks-in-the-heat-shield-cat deal.
well... removed 3 of them and it cured about 75% of the noise. I see now that there were actually two different noises, one cured with the heat sheilds removed, the other is up front... driverside-ish. Usually only heard under load around 3 K and up. sounds like a loose washer against metal... eeeeeeeeerrrrrrrreeeeeeee like.
If someone wouldn't mind taking a spin with me, maybe I can squash this noise.

The Upper Shields ( the one on the bottom of the car, not around the pipes). Rather tinny sounding. anyone else ever thought about sound proofing them ?

Sure! Come on out! I'll add you to the list.
So far the only suggestion has been this Saturday (October 1st), 11am at Chinook (upper parkade off of 5th Street).

As far as that rattle goes, I had it at one time but I ended up replacing the whole exhaust from the header back and it cured it. The rattle wasn't the main reason for changing, but enough to push me to upgrade. Apparently, it was a baffle inside either the cat or the resonator or something like that.

BTW. Quasar, wicked deal on the lens covers you bastard!

The leather seats are cold in the winter and hot in the summer.
Why I have them I don't know, they just came with the car, however I do like them just because I can say I have leather seats hehe.

If I find another set I'll grab it for you, having the internet at work gets me good deals!

No worries, they were too good of a deal to pass up. Can't blame you for acting quick. They're GTS lens covers aren't they? I don't think you need to remove the bumper to install them. My last set just slipped on. Bring them on Saturday and I'll take them from you - er help you install them.

QuasarCav
09-29-2005, 10:37 AM
They are GTS and unless I'm really dumb I swear I'll have to remove the bumper. There is a tab on top that slips around the housing and then there is another tab on the bottom that has to slide underneath. I pushed as much as I felt comfortable pushing and it didn't slide in. I'll just loosen the bolts behind the bumper lights and slide it in that way. I've heard the mounting tabs like to break so I'll take it easy on this one.

And if I am really dumb by all means let me know.

As far as "leader" goes, if somebody wants to do it go for it. I'd love to if I were single but family comes first. I just wanted to have one last meet before winter hits as I know some of us park our cars for the winter.

As far as the rain goes, we'll do it rain or shine. This will tell us who the true diehards are. If it does, we can always meet at the bottom level of the parkade.

FYI. If you ever have to change your drive shafts, make sure you specify whether or not you have ABS and make sure you get the correct side (driver's vs. passenger/left vs. right) as they are not interchangeable. Tonight, I had to change out the drive shaft for the third time this week because the one that I bought from the store to replace the incorrect replacement one that I had, was for the wrong side. :banghead: :banghead:

do you guys know if the 90-93 integra rad fits in a 92-95 civic? (Sedan) if it helps..

freakin
10-03-2005, 12:32 AM
don't EG's run a half rad? I don't think they have the mount for a full length rad. Best way to test it would be to size one up. I think Mike (frozenrice) has his old one lying on the side of his house still if you wanted one to test the fitment with instead of buying one first.

reason is, i can take my buddies half rad and put it in my car for my turbo app, but he says I can have it if he doesn't sell his car but I kinda wanna get a g2 rad for him just incase (thats if i can get one for cheap)

I got a quote from a place called Big O tires.
Hankook W404 winters for about $95 (installed and balanced) + taxes. That's for stock 195/60/14.
CMS quoted me roughly the same price on Kumho KW11s.

try mytires.ca.

They say it's best to get all 4 to keep the car balanced.

On the x4, you dont want unpredictablility (huge word, from now on refer to it as UP) in already unpredictable time.

I got some Blizzak LM-22's and I'll let you know how they are in about a week. They are pretty pricey though and if I didn't get them for a good price I would have gone with a set of Kumho's. And remember to go for a skinnier tire in the winter, a 185 or 195 perhaps.

My teggy runs all winter long, it's the only car I have unlike Matt.:nut:

stevieo

x4 especially if you have ABS. My old set of winters were 195s and never had any problems with them. Kind of a dumb question, but how would 185s make a difference?

That's cold man.:poosie:

The thinner tire exerts more pressure over a smaller area resulting in more grip. It's the opposite of having more contact area like you would want in the summer.

195's are fine but if you are buying new tires then it's something to think about. I'm running 195's.

QuasarCav
10-05-2005, 09:11 AM
Importrp was good, he heavily marked down the price so that brokarage wouldn't be too high.

In the car port, your car would still be exposed to the elements. I doubt you'd get salt on it, but you'd still get dirt and pollution on it...not to mention some snow. It would still be exposed to the large temperature fluctuations and whatnot. If you can get a cheap garage, then go for it. I've seen double detached garages go from $100-$200/month. If you found a decent one, you could split the cost with someone else and have a decent amount of room to work on it over the winter if you were so inclined. I may be looking for some space to store my Teg pretty soon, but I need it to be running first. I think I'm being kicked out of my garage. :(

If I had spare cash I think I'd do it. Winter's coming and gotta buy winter tires. On top of that, the wheel bearing and hub went on the wife's car. Cha-ching!!!! Hope those prosperity cheques get here soon!
