I think I'm picking up an AEM unit, so if you wait until the weekend, I'll sell you mine. I'm keeping the 90 degree bend and coupler at the end, so your filter would sit between the battery and fender (like stock).

the camber kit i bought is from evotion...hey matt is it possible for a new cable to make this grinding(hamster wheel sound) i am certain its the cable or whatever is connected to it...i ran the car with just the cable connected to the tranny and the sound comes from the cable...the sound changes/lessens when i push the little thing that rotates when the car is running!(not sure what its called...)

after installing the camber kit...will i be able to drive the car...won''t that mess up the alignment??? then where can i take the car for alignment...the ppl from tirecraft said "where not really interested if you install the camber kit yourself"
ohh i went to the tirecraft at mcleod trail...near hooters.
thanks for all your help...

frostyda9

As always, I'll suggest Alvin Automotive. They have been nothing but good for me, and they have done two alignments for me now. They are sort of geared towards the import crowd/cars, which I find is a good thing

i'll go look up alvins......thanks...

i'm confused with the cable...check this out - if the cable is the culprit ...then why don't i here any noise when i plug the speedo cable to the cluster then i attach a drill to the outher end and reverse...the speedometer will hit up to 100km/hr with no sound:dunno: if the cable or cluster makes the hamster wheel noise then i should here that sound when i attach it to the drill....but i don'tmmmmmm:nut:

They're about $20-$30 at mopac. I'm going to use it on my CRX though. It looks like I'll have my AEM intake soon, so yes, I can sell you my intake now if you like. How does $60 sound for the pipe?

If you're looking for strut bars, then take a look at the Megan ones at Custom Auto. That's what's on my car. They're nicer than the cheapo Vibrant ones but they're still under $100. I had to monkey a bit for it to fit over my ABS stuff, but it'll work. If you don't have ABS, then it'll fit beautifully. I did have to remove the little diaphragm on the side of the throttle body for it to work though. All it does is help with cold starts, so I didn't need it.

I'll be out of town that weekend, and I'd be embarassed to show it with that rust hole starting on the rear quarter....hopefully that'll be fixed for next year. So does this mean abtegs is back up again?

At this point, I'd try your luck on www.g2ic.com, someone on there might have had the same problem. It's a pretty good site for day to day problems on our cars.

On a side note, I am here now to ask...no...to BEG.. if anyone has a spot in their garage I can use this weekend. My rear rotors are going to break off pretty soon if I don't get to them. Name your price, I'm happy to throw some cash to anyone who can help me out...

05-17-2006, 08:12 PM
Dave I'd help you out but I'm out of town. Sorry man. If you can wait until the later part of the weekend (Sunday/Monday) we see if we can work something out.

freakin
05-17-2006, 08:15 PM

Yeah...and therein lies the problem. Everyone is out of town or away from home over the long weekend :banghead:
I'll figure something out, but thanks for the sentiment Mike.
Condo living is starting to really piss me off.

freakin
05-17-2006, 11:15 PM
Dave, I'll make you a deal. If you stop by and help me clean up the garage, you can use it afterwards. Do you have a set of jackstands? All 4 of mine are currently holding the other car up.

frostyda9
05-17-2006, 11:32 PM
You drive a hard bargain, but I'm game assuming it's not an 8 hour clean up job. I don't have stands anymore. Ever since I moved I just use a pair of low-pro Honda jacks :D

jmeriel
05-18-2006, 12:01 AM
frostyda9...i live in the NE...and have a garage if you can do it tom..thursday pref morning or early afternoon or friday same time...then you can use my garage...i have 4 jackstands & 2 jacks...and some tools...
oh matt (freakin)i tried oiling the speedo cable and it got better...i barely here the sound but its still there....i just turn the radio up!!! again thanks for the advice...
a friend sold me his dc ceramic coated header(100) from b18b...easy install right????

frozenrice
05-18-2006, 06:29 AM
Dave, if all else fails, and you're really desperate, there's a place in the NE called "U-wrench" where you can rent a service bay.
I think there's also one in Inglewood too but I can't remember the name of it.

freakin
05-18-2006, 08:01 AM
Dave, it may involve a dump run, but that's about it. Mostly I just need a hand putting some stuff up on the walls, and moving some crap (like my new roll cage :poosie: ). I can put some wheels on the back of the car and take the jackstands out.

jmeriel, glad to hear that the oil idea worked....mike suggested it first though....hehe, I'll give him props for that. The header install is pretty straight forward if it's meant for your car. I assume it's a 4-2-1, 2pc. header, so it goes in like stock. Just mock it up beside your stock downpipe to make sure it's the same length to the cat. If it's the same, then just soak the bolts over night with some penetrating oil (don't drive the car at this point, it'll just burn off), then take the manifold off and replace it with the header. A 4-1 will require some notching of the front crossmember and I dont' suggest it unless you're on a hoist and have access to a welder to put in a gusset.

Mike, Talonstylz have worked out what parts I need and they're supposed to be ready for this weekend. If you're still willing to pick up parts for me, would you mind PM'ing him today and figuring out when you two would meet up? Then I can just slip you some gas money once you're back and I pick up the parts. Sound like a deal?

jmeriel
05-18-2006, 08:25 AM
oh really...thanks MIKE

QuasarCav
05-18-2006, 08:31 AM
Matt, Jackstands are only 5 min away!

If you need a hand with the header let me know, mine wasn't fitting quite rigth so I've had it off and on a few times. Just WD-40 the hell out of it. The hardest part for me was the 02 sensor pigtail.

05-18-2006, 08:53 AM

It's reinforcement so you aren't just cutting a notch in the x-member and leaving it. I think the metal on the edges of the cut is folded in for strength, more work than a simple header install.

freakin
05-18-2006, 11:09 AM
To give you an idea of how it fits, this is my DC 4-1 header on my car. The crossmember is cut and there's a plate welded in to cover the hole and maintain the structural integrity. We also had to remove the brace that runs down the middle and ties the front and rear corssmembers together. You can see the empty bolt holes in the pic. The other option is to replace the crossmember with an aftermarket one and traction bars.

HAHAHA, that's a pic of my buddy Arf. He lost a bet so he had the choice to run across the street naked or buy us a flat of beer. He chose to go pick up our pizza from Little Ceasar's on a scooter while it was snowing.

Then when he went and asked for a 'meat lover'.....'are there any meat lovers in here?!?!'

Then the cops showed up and harrased us. That was a fun night.

But as far as my car goes....I screwed up my ABS at the track on Friday. My brake fluid boiled over and now my ABS pump runs as soon as I step on the brakes and doesn't stop for a couple of minutes....then no ABS anymore. I think I'm just going to rip it out of the damn car. Mind you it did save me from my bad driving a couple of times before I toasted it last night.

for the side markers just go to honda and ask for s2000 side markers. they work perfectly. all you gotta do is cut out the fender and stuff.. did it to my teg. there amber and everything, looks sick..

freakin

True, but I got mine cheaper than it would've cost for just the markers....and I needed new fenders anyhow. Either way...not hard to do.

That is correct, they are the exact same as the DA version except the markings that are embossed on the lens.

I still have the socket for the bulbs kicking around if anyone wants to do the conversion.

Hey Rey,
How's the new motor working out? I saw your car over at Darren's getting a transplant a couple weekends ago.

Oh, and yes those are thin moldings. And yes, I'd part with them....I'm putting on some GSR 'VTEC' ones, because I'm a nerd.
I'll trade you for some OEM grey floormats if you have them. I'll be in Edmonton in a couple of weeks, so we can meet up.

And Jaylo, did you get my PM about the batter tie downs? Everytime I open my hood, it gets a lot of great comments. If you decide to make a batch of them, I can easily unload 5 of them right now. I personally need one for the CRX....:bigpimp:

Your mailbox was full, yea for the tiedowns I only made two, the one you have and mine.

If you have 5 potential buyers I will make a bunch of them.

Let me know.

Jay,

If you're interested in making some, I would say that 10 would be a good number. I can arrange everything and make a sort of group buy on them. Just let me know what you think they'd cost if you made that many. My inbox should be free now. I'll start a list here as well as on G2IC and what not....then once we've got 10, I'll collect the money, get it to you and then you can work on them. The EF guys are liking them as well....so it won't be hard to move them if they're anodized and pretty looking.

talon, I forgot to ask you if the floor mats from either of your four doors are in any decent shape if they still got them in there.
