It's a long shot, but check the cable tension for the clutch. It's adjusted where the cable leaves the housing and attached to the tranny. You might get away with just tightening it up a little for a short amount of time. I'd love to help you out further, but I'm not going anywhere near a clutch job. They're not fun to tackle...and worth the $500 in labor to get someone else to do it. If you're going to keep the car, talk to JDM Source and pick up an Exedy stage 1 clutch for a cheap upgrade. They're a little over $300 for a streetable clutch that will hold up a lot better than an OEM one.

It's been a while.....

So, I went to BC for a little vacation. Mr Teg did great, passed over 240kms on the trip. Got to relax and burn on the beach!!

On the way home was a little different though, 1 broken axle, 1 tie rod end, and an overheating Integra thanks to my lack of filling the coolant up. I had to drive with the heather on from Salmo to Calgary in 35C weather. Integra is fine though.

Sad to see Integras go but I hope you are all happy with what you have done.

Am I high or didn't someone just ask this question recently? Looking through the thread now I can't find it. I believe there is a G2 with the cable @ P'nP, and whoever replied to the post I can't find said they could get them for ~$40 new.

Make sure you have the proper lube for the calipers and the backsides of the pads. Also, make sure you have the biggest assed phillips screw driver to remove the rotor screw if it's still in there. If the screw is still in there you might want to soak it in penetrating oil too before trying to remove it. I ended up stripping all my screws plus chewed up the impact screwdriver bit. When putting it all back together, don't bother putting them back in so that you don't have to mess with them next time round. A small block of wood and a big assed c-clamp to press the caliper piston in so you can install the new pads back over the disc. Don't forget to use brake cleaner fluid before removing everything.

That is some good advice. IMO, it's the #1 thing that can and will go wrong if you don't prepare for it. I was very careful with mine, and still managed to slip the screwdriver a few times. Once the screw head starts to round out, it gets real ugly, real quick.

QuasarCav

I have an impact for that rotor screw if you need it. I had to pound it with a hammer for almost 30min.

rey, was that you I saw this morning heading north on 14th? Car is looking good  .

We'll all have to get together for another meet sometime soon before the snow hits. This Sunday is a little too last minute for me to go to the AbTegs one.

Derek, if you end up rounding out the rotor screws, you can use a screw extractor. They're similar to torx bits. All you do is drill out the rounded out screw and then hammer in the appropriate size bit and then back the bit and screw out with a socket.

There should be a chart or something to let you know which size of drill bit to use for each extractor. I can't remember where I got them from, but I imagine they shouldn't be too hard to find.

ZING !
Power slot rotors with hawk pads in like flint.

The rotor screws came out no problem.

I used an 18V dewalt drill set to hammer. bit of wd40. piece of cake.

The most trouble I had was figuring out how to open the rears enough to get the new pads in. After a half an hour of trying to squeeze the cylinder, I checked the g2ic teg tip. Yeah, turns out they screw in :banghead:

Thanks for the heads up though, guys.

A few of you mentioned that you don't put them back in, isn't that kinda sketchy ? I realize with the wheel and lugs on there's no worry, but with the wheel off the rotors are kinda floppy. discuss.

frozenrice
09-09-2006, 10:00 PM
Congrats Derek. Don't worry about putting the rotor screws back in. The only reason they're there is to keep the rotors from falling off while the car is moving along the assembly line at the factory.

Sorry to hear about your car. I think frostyda9 might be interested in the intake. Do you think you'll be parting the car out? Let us know if you do, I think there's a few people including myself that might take a few parts.

Just a Quick question, I have a 90 LS and when I start my car and drop my e brake, all of my headlights and taillights go on. Does any know what is wrong with my car?

frozenrice
09-18-2006, 12:31 AM
That's your DRLs (Daytime Running Lights). It's normal so nothing to worry about. My car used to do that but the module for the DRLs burnt out so the only way to turn on the headlights now is actually using the switch. This is a good thing if you are running with one-piece headlights and H4H bulbs (H4H are expensive and hard to come across).

AS far as I know the 90's shouldn't have the tails come on during normal operation. With your parking lights on your tails will come on as well.

Now get back to work or I'll tell your mom.

1990 integras have "Daytime Running Lights" where the headlight and tailight is actuated at full power.

There is a remedy for this, but you will lose your Ebrake indicator light.

Doesn't it either involve taking out a fuse or disabling the DRL relay unit altogether? Check G2IC.com. I think there are a few threads about it on there.

The easiest way to disable it is to pull the plug out of the DRL unit behind the passenger side kick panel.

edit: added from G2IC:
"Well here's how it goes. Well i did this for my 90 teg GS. You have to remove the passenger side kick panel. Behind this you will see a little black box that kinda looks like a computer with 2 plugs into it (this is the DRL, says right on it). You must disconnect the bottom plug, it is a grey plug. If you disconnect the top plug then you don't have anymore parking lights, so it is the bottom plug that has to be disconnected. You have just dissabled your daytime running lights. Then just put the kick panel back on, and your all set. So guys, it ended up working."

HMMM, darren has a obd0 dizzy?

Former Calgary G2er down and out:

Too bad this didn't happen in Calgary though. I'd love to have some of his parts. All the Vancouver brats will have dibs on them.
Maybe if frosty reads this in time he can catch him on the way through.

Alpine guy I have a used set of stock shocks from my DB that you can have for free. I just can't guarantee what shape they're in in terms of how long they'll last you and whether or not they'll fit on a DA. They seemed to be working fine when I took them out though. LMK if you want them.

I bought a first gen B16 with a rod knock. It came with an ecu and distributor. Dan has the ecu, and I'm not sure what to do with the rest.
Anyone interested? The head is clean.....
