How was the junkyard meet yesterday lol?

Has anyone tried putting 94 up integra seats in their 2nd gen? I found a pair of tan seats from a 94 looks way better than my brown seats. 2 of the bolts don't line up, can i switch the frame/rail or what?

I think I said it in a previous post- "RUST PWNS". We couldn't get the rear lower strut to control arm bolts out. This was with a 1/2" breaker bar and standing on the end of it. Just wouldn't budge so we gave up. I wish I had a cordless electric impact wrench.

Dan, what kind of place are you looking for - what part of town?

well im back from the dead. Its summer up here now, time to break out the tools. After having a non productive summer last year, I think everyone in my house would appreciate my junk pile in the driveway disappearing.

There used to be an online pdf version of a helms manual. I cant seem to dig it up anywhere anymore. The link I had is no longer active, and the thread on g2ic is gone. Im wondering if anyone saved the pdf manual and can email it to me, of if anyone has another link.

Also, if anyone needs any random parts, shoot me a PM and I might be able to help. I still have my parts car sitting in the driveway.

Hey Mike. Was wondering what happened to you. Are you planning on coming down this summer? Bring the Teg down if you do. I have yet to see it in person.

Anyways, here's a link HTH. I posted it up on www.abtegs.net a long time ago. I haven't tried it since I already had it.

Hey mike its mike, thanks mike. haha, good stuff. Yeah, I dont think I can make it down to Calgary this summer. Im working over the summer to save for school. Not that Ill actually have any money saved come September. Had I not been so lazy over the winter and last summer, I may have actually had a car to drive this summer. Its not that the car doesnt run, Ive just started too many little projects at one time.

Well, I almost started the car last night. I cranked it over to prime the oil pump and check for leaks. Luckily that was the point that I noticed the bolt that had fallen behind the timing belt cover and shredded the belt up. I'll post up some pics soon, but at the moment, I'm too pissed off to go back in the garage.

So at this point, this is looking like the last 'abosolutely need' parts list:

-New B16 timing belt <--Dan, still have a hookup on OEM parts?
-Rear endlink to control arm bolt
-Another postive batter cable. Mike got me one, but it's something that someone's custom made. It'll work for now, but I'd rather have an OEM one in there.
-DA rad, or just a drain plug and I'll re-use my EF one.

Well, both of those would be the same belt. I'm running a 2nd gen JDM B16, but the B17 is the same block and head, so belt length should be identical....I doubt they changed up the teeth on the water pump for that app. If that's OEM, then grab one! I'll wire you the cash.

Those screws are a pain. I used an extractor. They're basically the same thing as a torx screw bit. I drilled out part of the screw with a regular drill bit and used the appropriate sized torx and hammered it into the hole and backed it out. When you reinstall, don't worry about reusing them. Torquing down the rim will hold the rotor in place.

Whaaa?? Did you call me to burn a chip? Just email me the ROM file and stop by with a blank chip. It'll take 2 min to get it done. How's that timing belt coming along anyhow, hehe?

With the rotors...that's a Honda thing. I just don't ever put them in. Use an impact driver like Dan said if you strip it, but usually they'll come out if you're careful. Worst case sceneario, you drill it out then clean up the rest with a dremel or a grinder....then never put a screw back in.

Sorry, I realized my statement is a bit misleading. I rebuilt a b18a with a new bottom end. Upgraded rods, forged pistons, ARP studs, upgraded head gasket, ITR oil pump. Just a few misc. lines/hoses/wires and the engine mounts and the old motor should be out. If all goes the way its supposed to, the new engine should be in by tomorrow.

:burnout: :burnout: IT'S ALIVE!!:burnout: :burnout:

My work cancelled on me, so I spent the weekend working on the REX. Dan came by to help me get the rad and timing belt issues sorted out, then finally got the CRX started on Sunday. All that it took was some Taco Bell to lure him in. I'm trying to sort out a clutch issue now, need get the exhaust finished (need a test pipe installed) and get an allignment.

So I woke up the neighborhood around noon yesterday with an open header and a cloud of smoke. I then proceeded to let it get up to operating temp so that I could change the oil and get all of the assembly lube out of there. It's loud as hell, but it fires up easily and idles smooth. The smoke was gone after running it for a couple of minutes (I kept dumping oil down in the cylinders and turning the motor over while it sat). Compression is really strong as well. Definately all good signs.

Once the clutch is sorted out, it'll be on the road. SOOOO CLOSE!

Mike, how did your swap go?

Nice, you're halfway there. Get some of that degreaser that Dan gave me for the engine bay. I just sprayed it on and left it for a minute or two, then scrubbed it off with a brush and a bucket of water. It worked really well. It looks like new paint in there now. The install is pretty easy.... and you really aren't chaging much in there, so it should go pretty quick. Who's doing your downpipe fabrication and tuning?

frozenrice
06-25-2007, 07:06 PM
I had some leftover Superclean from when I cleared the tails so I sprayed it on and let it soak for a bit and then hit the engine bay with a pressure washer. Turned out not bad. Maybe not like new but I'm satisfied with it.
I'm going to run stock for a bit before I do anything else, so stock header for now.

Good job Mike & Co. !!!

You likelyjust need to play with the cable adjustment on the clutch to get it working properly. Otherwise, sounds like you're done. Don't forget to get it up to operating temp, then change the oil. I also like to put about 500KM during the break in, then change it again. After that, she's good.

Are you going with a conservative break in, or going to subscribe to my school of thought where I just run it hard (within reason) from the get go?

frozenrice
07-03-2007, 08:14 AM
We got the cable adjusted as far as it will go. I'm thinking (hoping, actually) that it's just a stretched clutch cable. I really don't want to have to rip it all apart. How did you make out with yours?

QuasarCav

Nicely done Mike! It sure puts my changing of brake pads to shame.

I removed the CAI on the weekend and I'll be selling it soon. It's an Ebay intake with a K&N filter and vibrant silicone connectors. It was just too loud for an old man like me and I like the sound of my exhaust.

If anyone on here wants it speak up and I'll let it go for $80.

Mike, I was working all weekend, so I didn't get a chance even look at mine. Your other option is to shim it a little to get some more room out of the adjustment screw.

I think this weekend's gig cancelled on me, so I might have time to look at the clutch this weekend.

Lewis, I wouldnt' mind trying out that CAI on the CRX. If the piping will fit, I'll take it. Please tell me that it's 2.5" and not 3" tubing. I'm pretty tight for space and would rather not have my battery touching the intake.

Hey Colin. What's up? You just missed out. I just gave an old set away. They were OBD1 though. If they're for your car you'll need OBD0. Have you found mirrors yet?

Damn, I haven't even looked for any mirrors. My build up is going a little slower than I thought. I am finding that i need more parts. How is your build coming along?

The real funny thing is that in about 3-5 months I'll be in the market to get another 2nd car and a G2 teg is on the consideration list. ;) And that's when I'll have my house :D

Hey Guys, wondering if anyone knows if there is a difference between a 90-91 metal inner bumper that the cover goes over top of and a 92-93.

My car's a 91 and I'm replacing the 92-93 cover that's on it with a new one but I'm having some trouble getting it to fit.:dunno: I have no idea what the guy before me did. The middle of the old one was cut out with mesh in it.

From what I've read, the metal rebar is slightly different between years, but what most people do is trim/shave the styrofoam. What shape is the 92/93? I might be interested.

The old one isn't the greatest, that's why I'm replacing it. The whole car's getting painted right away. I'm going to pickup a new 92-93 rebar today since I can't find a used one anywhere. :(

I meant to add that the bumper supports on the rad support are diffrent too. So whatever year of rebar you're installing, you'll need the appropriate bumper supports to go with it. Are you simply replacing the 92 with another 92? It should just fit on if that's how it was to begin with unless the original owner installed the cover over top of a 90-91 rebar and trimmed the styrofoam. :dunno:

How bad of shape is that old front bumper in? Pics?

Well I found a used 92-93 rebar and I did grab the bumper supports and styrofoam to go with it just in case. Everything went together perfectly. The original owner had trimmed the foam and cut the center of the cover out over the 91 rebar. The newer rebar is completly different.

The old one wasn't too bad but it has a few spider cracks and a couple of dings. For the cost of a new one it wasn't worth my time and we perfered having the original plastic in the center instead of that gutter mesh. It's the same bumper in my avatar pic. I'll have to snap a pic of the bumper now that it's off.

:D cheers

Dan has some updates for you people and Matt

Found a engine (just need to weld the oil pressure port)
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b37/danlowteg/DSCF2210.jpg

Took Matt's old roll cage and welded up a engine crane (total cost $20) also duct tape to make it look cool (i had nothing better to do)
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b37/danlowteg/DSCF2212.jpg

Copy catted Matt and got some ITR wheels

What the hell??? Are you going 4x114.3 on your CRX as well? That'll be 3 of them in town. Please tell me that you got all of the suspension for it as well. You'll need the hubs from the donor as well as some other parts. I managed to snag some 11" rotors and calipers for mine with the package. Score!
