going 4x114.3 on my db :D way to much rust on the crx to fix. tell me what you might need for yours matt. the car is going to be towed away soon

If you're just scraping it, keep the seats! I don't need them, but they're worth something. I could use the rear hatch to experiment with some lexan windows. Also, the rear storage stuff, like the rear cover, and the part that folds down in the back are a little messed up on mine. I'll be working on the car this weekend, so I'll give you a call.

Will you be availble to test fit the CAI?

I put the old short ram intake on for fun last weekend and it feels like the car lost around 20hp. If any of you guys are running the SRI give your stock intake a try.

woot! Looks good. One piece of advice. I HIGHLY recommend you get a camber kit and an alignment done ASAP or you'll chew up your tires.
DB's are gonna rule! Dan get yours going.

freakin
07-13-2007, 01:37 PM
DB1, I think you just need to level out the back. And yes, get the allignment done ASAP. It looks like you've got a lot of meat on those tires....it would be a shame to kill them over something simple like that.

I miss my DB.

slammed vws look good, though I'm not a huge on Euorpean imports.
I am very happy to say that I got the car moving today. A brand new clutch cable and some adjustment is all that it needed. Now on to fine tuning it. I can't get the idle to slow down and I keep getting code 43.

Pretty much all done, except for a high idle and a code 43. I'm having a hardtime figuring it out. I'm a bit hesitant to drive it unti I get these things sorted out.

78si
07-23-2007, 11:10 PM
code 43 is oxygen sensor or o2 wiring. Did you do a obd1 conversion?

frozenrice
07-23-2007, 11:16 PM
code 43 is pretty vague - fuel supply system, which could possibly be a result of a bad o2 sensor, vaccuum issue, fuel pressure. I'm kind of stumped.
I didn't do the OBD1 conversion. At the time it seemed a bit over my head.
Do you know if a bad a o2 might affect idle? When I start up the car it runs fine as you would expect for a cold engine. The CEL only comes on after about 5 mins when the car is warmed up. At that point the idle drops but not by much. I can't get it to go lower than 1200rpms.

It could just be the flat tires that make it look funny. It'd be good start for a project car. The price of the car would have to be right though. I'm talking car for sub $500 + another b18a for $100-300.

Just an FYI, ALL 2nd and 3rd gen intergra are exactly the same: 10" front, 9" rears. The only exception is the 97+ ITR: 11" front, 10" rears.

Also, I'd recommend against the B16B. The motor doesn't have any torque and it's stupidly expensive. You'd be better off with a GSR motor with some mods, or a B18C-R for the few extra bucks that it costs. Also, don't forget to find a short geared cable tranny or a cable to hydro conversion if you're getting a tranny with your motor.

Nice to see some more DB1s. Seeing all the problems that I've been having with my Jetta lately, is making me wish I just bought another Honda.

Oh and for Mike, here are the before and after pics of the drop. I'll get some better pics of it soon.

The old green Integra is finally gone! The new owner is a young kid and I'm sure he'll have fun with it. I got some new Kumho's mounted on the car but other than that I've kept it pretty stock. I debating right now on buying the Tokico kit so I can really enjoy the car but I plan on getting something new once I'm 25 and I don't want to spend any more money.

The Jetta looks good but the tach is hillarious. I would redline it driving on the highway at 130.

frozenrice
08-01-2007, 03:18 PM
Camber kits correct the angle that your wheels tip in/out. Usually, when you lower a car, the top of the wheels tip inward. This leads to more strain on the inner edge of the tire which ends up wearing out faster than the rest of the tire.

Here is what you will end up with if you don't correct it soon.

I GOT THE SAME TIRE AND IT LOOKS THE SAME!.. so where can i get the kit installed?

frozenrice
08-01-2007, 10:10 PM
Camber kits are relatively easy to install if you want to save money. Either way, you'll need to get an alignment done almost ASAP after getting it installed. When I replaced the upper control arms on the Integra, I swapped the camber kit over to the new control arms. It was pretty easy, but the alingment was definately way out. I ended up taking it to CMS for the alignment. The other time I had a camber kit installed, I didn't have time to do it, so I took it in to Tirecraft on Macleod for the install and alignment.

Valve adjustment on the weekend. The VTEC motor is a little more tricky than the garden variety B18 but it wasn't that bad. Most valves were out of spec so it did smooth the motor out.

I still have that CAI piping if anyone is interested , it only comes with the silicone connectors and no filter.

danlowteg
08-07-2007, 12:40 PM

freakin
08-07-2007, 04:00 PM
HAHA, aren't the VTEC heads fun Lewis? Everything is so damn cramped in there. There's a little trick I've come up with to get an accurate reading. If you check from the ouside of the head it usually causes the gauge to bind up and makes you think it's too tight. I usually work from the inside of the lobes, down the middle of the head. I'll show you next time I've got a valve cover off. I also need to make that adjustment tool that I've been talking about for a while...basically just an open end wrench welded on to a deep 10mm socket. Makes life so much easier when you don't have to compensate for the screw turning when you tighten it.

PS, I have some GSR (JDM B18C) cams if you are anyone else is interested.

I've searched G2IC and can't find much info on the cams. Are they the same spec as the B18C1? I should change the timing belt within about 10K and I was thinking about some mild cams.

freakin
08-10-2007, 12:53 PM
To be honest, I'm not sure if there's a difference between them and the USDM counterpart. The P72's are more aggressive than the P30's or PR3's that you'd have in your head though. You won't need to upgrade the valvetrain either. Not sure what I want for them yet....but not a whole lot. Make me an offer on them if you're interested.

The peak numbers aren't much...but they have a broader powerband, and nicer for turbo setups. :)

Didn't I call you back last night? I thought I did.....I also just tried calling you, but you don't have voicemail.

If anyone's up at the moment, check out the moto-x race on 27. I was the camera op. for the back section. Wheee!

Who wouldn't be up right now? I've been at work since 8!!!

I'm all conflicted as usual thanks to the car mods. After the horrible experience that was selling my old opened my eyes to the fact that no one wants to buy a modified car and all the money I put in the old car was basically garbaged. But then I get into my stock car and the suspension is too soft, the engine doesn't rev fast enough and VTEC kicks in to late it would be nice to dump another 2.5K into the thing.

Matt, I know you feel the pain worse than most people.

I should have rephrased that. I meant if anyone was online at that moment.

And yes, don't ever expect your money back after mods. I usually have double what the car is worth dumped in to them. This CRX is going to be particularly painful. I think I've broken the $10,000 mark on it and I'd be lucky to get a grand from an insurance company. I'll get more in the private market, but it'll still hurt. You do the mods for yourself and have fun with your car. Otherwise, you're going to be regretting it.

On a related note, I think I'll have my SiR front end on the CRX pretty soon.

Anyone want to stop by and help me push the CRX back in to my garage?

I finally cleaned it out again to fit my car back in there. Now I can finally finish the clutch. I think I know what the problem is....so shouldn't take more than an hour or so to fix it.

When do you need a hand? Do you still need that cable?

freakin
08-13-2007, 10:24 AM
I MIGHT need the cable. Depends on how I manage with the linkage. I'm getting mixed reponses on whether or not I need to change over to a DA cable. Darren says, the EF one is fine and thinks it's a linkage problem....and Allan at STRD thinks it's the cable along with some other people.

If I had to choose, I'd pick Darren's expertise over STRD's any day. He hasn't let me down yet....so I'll see how that goes.

Anyhow, back to the original question. I'm thinking tomorrow to get the car moved in. I'll have the day off, but I imagine none of you can stop by before 5.....so sometime around then would likely work. Assuming that you're offering a hand. :bigpimp:

I'll check wit da woman. I can swing by on the way home assuming your car is in Shawnessy. I'll bring the cable along too.

Saw some of the motocross yesterday. Must have been fun doing the camerawork.
