Say 'Hello' to a hot shift knob....hehe, I've got a metal shift knob and a short shifter on in my car and the exhuast keeps it nice and warm in the summer. It also likes to rub on the exahuaust when it rains.....don't ask, the only thing I can think if is that it contracts quickly.
If you have a rattle, firgure out if it's in the inside or the outside. If it's inside, you'll likely just need to see if a panel's loose. If it's on outside, get under the car and see if things are tight. Wiggle the exhaust (when it's cool obviously), check the suspension, heatshields etc.
Heatshields are notorious on any car for rattling, but they usually just require a quick tightening with a wrench. Easy 10 min. fix.

I know on mine, it was a baffle inside either the cat or the resonator (I can't remember which one). I ended up junking it all and upgrading to larger diameter piping and high flow cat and stuff.
Quasar, good find. I wish I had thought of that instead of getting those other tips welded on.
Moonracer
02-08-2005, 07:20 PM
I had my heat sheild removed and that stopped one rattle but there was still another. Turned out to be the cat. It was toast and the stuff inside was bunged up and that was rattleing.

I'll certainly be going to the V8less again this year and as for a cruise to the mountains....It's more than likely. We're having a meet for the world of wheels on the 19th you should ccme along.

The tach looks like it's from a 90-91. It has it's redline around 6600.

as far as i know unless you have Vtec your redline should be around 6600rpm in the G2teg. i don't think they changed the gauge clusters between the years
freakin
02-09-2005, 01:24 PM
The clusters are different from 90-91 and 92-93. They have a cleaner look to the 92-93 and the redline is a slightly higher 6,800 on the tach (the motor cuts out at 7,000RPM, trust me, hehe). Take a close look at the lines between the numbers. They're small and there's more of them. And of course, there's the GSR clusters that go to 8,200 RPM and the JDM clusters that have KM/H only and the speedo only goes up to 180 instead of 210.
90-91 cluster:

92-93 cluster:

Not sure how many came out for that one, I couldn't make it, but all the 403 cruises usually have a good turnout. I made it to the drumheller cruise and that had a good showing and was a ton of fun. So come on and get that thing insured!

It's a great time to do a valve adjustment and replace the cam seal. I'd buy an aftermartket one though.....the leak is a factory installed option I believe. :poosie:
Basically just pull the plug wires and unbolt it. Probably not a bad idea to get a new gastket for when you put it back on as well.

i have the turbo and some other stuff but i'm selling the turbo.. cos i want to go with a brand new one if all well works out if i can budget it with the baby coming.. but ya.. its a t3 with a crysler flange.. if oyu want pics of it ask me on msn and i will send them..
its not a bad turbo but not what i'm really looking for cos i want a t3super60 or something but i want brand new.. which is going to cost me 800 around there and i'm gettin rid of this for around 100

Sandino, go talk to Pat at Speedtech. When I was telling him about my distributor going a while ago and how it cost me close to $700 to get it on the road again, he mentioned that he had a few kicking around. I'm sure he'd let them go for a reasonable price. I think I'll be up there tomorrow, so I can ask him for you if I remember.
Logan, send me some pics of that turbo and some specs if you can. I might be interested in it as an upgrade for my other car.

I guess it kinda sounds throaty!
If it's decent outside we'll meet at the upper west side and if crappy, the lower underground west side. There's two levels down there I believe but it's the lowest level. And ya meet at 11am and probly start rolling out around 11:20 to wait for any latecomers.

If it's decent outside we'll meet at the upper west side and if crappy, the lower underground west side. There's two levels down there I believe but it's the lowest level. And ya meet at 11am and probly start rolling out around 11:20 to wait for any latecomers.
most likely me..

Sandino,
I finally got around to checking with Pat. He doesn't have one, but he thinks he may know of someone that does. I'll wait until he gets back to me with a price, but he was under the impression that it would be a little on the pricey side. Sorry man.
