Thanks for the input, Come spring im gonna have some orange wheels!:bigpimp: Now the only question is should the rims be painted or powder coated? I know powder coating is more durable but in return it can weaken the alloy in the wheel. Lots of thinking to do.

frozenrice
02-01-2008, 02:20 PM
Will powdercoating really do that? How hot does powdercoating get?

jdmXSI
02-01-2008, 02:29 PM
Im not too sure how hot it gets, just anytime you heat up a metal that wasen't designed for high temp. The molecular structure of the metal can change and cause it to weaken.

ANY ONE GOT A UPPER RAD HOSE LAYING AROUND? I blew a hole in it coming back from sunshine today.

frozenrice
02-02-2008, 09:42 AM
Worst case scenario would be to duct tape it until you can get a new hose. New hoses aren't too terribly expensive either.
I duct taped a cracked rad at the Petro Canada on Highway 1 (where it meets the highway to Cochrane) and kept going to Banff for the weekend. It held for a week until I was able to get a new rad installed.

I'm back....sorta. I just sold the EG this evening and picked up a 93 Accord wagon with a 5-speed and F23 swap. :)

Any chance that someone has an OEM shift knob lying around that they can part with? I couldn't find one in my garage (I know I have at least 3 buried somewhere) to put on my Civic when I sold it, so I had to let it go with that custom machined one I had.....on the condition that I get it back when I stop by with an OEM one.

Someone has to have one lying around!

PS, Also looking for some coilvovers to slam the wagon. Lewis and Dan, you remember seeing the Jetta after I slammed it?.....well the wagon should be at least an inch lower. :D

Mike, you'll love this thing....we'll have to have a wagon meet.

frozenrice
02-08-2008, 07:40 AM
Nice a CB9. A meet would be hilarious. You didn't buy it from Deetz did you? I think he has a wagon too with a 5 speed but I though it was a H22. You should be able to find springs/coils for it on here. Last I checked same part #s as the sedan. I wanted to slam the wagon too at one time, but it'll have to wait.
Big differnce between your's and mine will be you'll hauling cool camera gear and shit, and I'll have toys and garbage. :D

Check out this site for some ideas:

Hello,
Does anyone have an access to a big torch to unfreeze the bolts on the turbine housing of a turbo?

frozenrice
03-03-2008, 07:22 PM
da9integ, how'd the gas cap break? I've never heard of that happening before.

jaylo, are you talking like a welding torch or like one of those handheld bottle torches?

da9integ
03-03-2008, 07:55 PM
its not the gas cao. when you push the button insid your car to open the gas tank, its the piece that allows the gas cap to open. it basically holds the gas cap cover closed and allows it to open. sorry im not sure about the name of it

Hey,
I think I would need a big welding torch, oxyacetelyne (sp?) ones.

I could probably try the small handheld ones, I remember legendboy using a big welding torch to clock my turbo in the past (3 years ago).

sorry i think im confusing most of you. im talking about the pice thats shaped like a cylinder but you only see the tip when you open the gas cap cover. it allows the gas cap cover to pop open when you press the button inside your car and holds it clsed when you close the cover. its made out of plastic i think. miine has a peice on the top broken so it wont stay in place and basically falls through the little hole it comes out of and therefore, cannot hold the cover closed. once again im sorry for the terms im using. im not sure of what the part is actually called.

frozenrice
03-04-2008, 11:18 PM
I know what part you're talking about - I'm not sure what it's callled either :D. Either way, I've never heard of that breaking before. I'd assume you just need to replace it by accessing the back side via the trunk.

da9integ
03-05-2008, 12:19 AM
yea the thing is its connected to some wire and im pretty sure it goes all the way to the button you press to open the cover. i dont wanna try to change it over and screw it up even more. maybe ill just get a mechanic to take a look

dirty_magic
03-15-2008, 10:48 AM
Im not sure that you can actually replace just the plaster tip of the gas release cable. When I pulled one out of the parts car, it runs along the same path as the hatch release cable until it reaches the gas cap area. Youll have to pull off the interior side panels. Once you can get your hand in behind where the gas nipple sticks out to grab the gas lid, you have to turn the black trim piece until it lines up in a way that you can just pull it right out. I guess youd have to take a closer look, its hard to describe these things.

I may have a spare one, but wont know until spring/summer when I find out if I need to use it.

QuasarCav

The thread is alive!

I'm lowered on a Tokico Illumina kit now and it's a nice upgrade from the tired stock shocks. The adjustability is a pain in the ass for the rear units but the fronts can be changed from really stiff to stock like in seconds.

Freakin may have a tranny somewhere in his packrat garage.

Nice thread! I've got an original 93 Gs-R. Engine was meticulously cared for but the previous owner really neglected the body. I'm looking to swap my drive train and many other key GS-R parts into a 92,93 DB1 Shell. I can't wait, I've got exams coming up in like 2 weeks so I've got to keep my head set on straight. hey, PM'ed you back.
as soon as it started it's going to end. A friend of mine called and told me he had a BMW e30( 1989 325is) Which I've been dieng to get behind the wheel of since I sold my old one quiet a while ago(Regretted it). He asked me how much I wanted to pay for it and he took my offer... so looks like I'll be parting this badboy out unfortunately. I would love to keep the engine as well as the transmission but I unfortunately can't store it in my garage... My dad has his own crap in there.

On the other hand I'd really like this drivetrain to go to somebody who'd appreciate it.

This is why im only posting this here.

There is something odd about that Accord. I have probably never seen one in real life.

You've never seen an Accord wagon in real life before?
They're :bigpimp: They're not as common as the regular Accords, but there are a few around. Freakin bought one not long ago.

And polished them up well enough to put 'em on.. (no pics as of yet, been raining since :(..)

Also got a GSR spoiler, EK H badges, EK side skirts to be put on..

Future plans :

B20Z
Paint
New quarters
Sprint 2" drop springs
Bilstein Sports with EK forks

And a few other things along the way.. What do you guys think so far?

:)

Looks good, I like the wiper delete, something that I want to do but it comes in handy at times.

$$$ for new quarter panels!
