If anyone needs any misc. parts for their cars, let me know. The snow has finally melted up here, and I have an inventory of too damn many parts. This is the summer where I finally get to figure out what I need, and what I can part with. Ive got random parts all over the place. The other day I counted 4 guage clusters, I have no idea how I got so many.

Mike, I hate you! I have a set of 15x7 ronals off of a SAAB that I'm going to put on....but they're sooo damn narrow and the fronts rub on the calipers. Any luck finding me a door yet?

My A/C died and its $500 to fix. So I'm thinking of removing it to save weight and clean up the engine bay. Anyone here done this? What parts are the heaviest? (commpressor, condensor, evporator etc?) What can I even remove without messing up the heater?

I have a can of this aerosol stuff that I used on my valve cover, but I'm not sure if it's safe for rims. I'll try and dig it out and let you know. I think I got it at Crappy Tire or Walmart.

I think you need to also replace the evaporator with a heater duct or something like that. There should be a few threads about it on G2IC.COM.

There's a 94-97 Accord that I want the side skirts and front mud guards off of. Problem is the junkyard stands that they set the cars on is pinching the skirt to the underbody of the car. I just need some muscle to help lift the corner of the car (using the doors) just a fraction of an inch so that I can slip the skirt off.

I've changed my mind....I think. If the Accord sells, then I'll buy the Legacy. If not, then it becomes a track car.

Also, does anyone need any DA parts??? I didn't hear back from anyone over the weekend. Mike, I have those taillights and window seal if you want them. You already took the white rear bumper, right?

Anyone looking for a GS-R? I am car shopping and I would like to give any one interested a chance to check the car out.

It's a Black 93 with 215,xxx KMS
RS*R Cat-back
Tokico Illumina Kit (1.4" Front and Back - 5 way adjustable)
SiR rims with 205/50/15 Kumho SPT

Unlike the other Black GS-R for sale I wont be asking a fortune. I would figure around 4,500.00.

I don't think any of my previous cars were as consistently fun as the GS-R. The car had a really good balance with it and it was a cool feeling to hang our right below the VTEC crossover on the highway and just have that instant NA power when needed.

I really hope the extra 67 HP and 2 extra drive wheels can console me.

Hey guys whats up.

I'm looking to remove my A/C this weekend (compressor, condensor, evaporator, piping etc).
Anyone here done this? Anything I should look out for? I'm hoping to not have to take off the bumper, hopefully I can get it all out of there.
Is it cool if I just cut the belt that drives the compressor, because its on the middle pulley so wouldnt be able to just pull it off.

I hope this works out, I'm absoutely terrible at working on cars :banghead:

frozenrice
06-20-2008, 03:30 PM
You should be able to cut the belt, just don't cut the wrong one :D. As for the condensor, you'll likely have to remove the bumper to get it out, unless you can take it off from the engine bay, which means removing the radiator. Good luck.

Colin,
For the DRL, I'd try either the red/green to the parking light switch or the auxillary fuse.

I've got a few quick Q's for you DA/DB owners..

I recently picked up a '92 GSR and was wondering your personal preference on a few things ..

I have a b20z lying around that was going to go for my '90 GS, but I was considering a B17A/B20Z hybrid as the '17 is sort've high on KM's and I was concerned about it... Would you guys bother or just fix up the GSR till it's running tip top again? I have my daily so I can have a car torn apart - just wondering the best course of action ..

My other decision is keep the 17 together and swap the b20 into my GS and have a reliable DD and a project GSR..

Allllssoo.. the GSR is hesitating at higher RPM's - over 4k or so when it's warm.. I'm thinking timing, clogged cat, spark, and maybe coolant - anything else to consider? I'm swapping the exhaust out for a 4-2-1 DC w/ 2.25" mandrel bend SS piping, high flow cat, and a chambered muffler on Friday to see if that fixes the cat problem, I'll be picking up plug wires and plugs to see if that helps as well (I already have nice plug wires for my GS, NGK Blue's.. but a second set of something would be nice)

The coolant was a little low, and wasn't really in the hoses (had to squeeze 'em for a bit to get them full again) - don't know if that's much cause for concern.. Head gasket maybe? I'll be changing the oil soon to see if theres coolant in it (that's a head gasket check if I'm not mistaken?)

And after all thats said and done .. timing is next.. I have to pop the valve cover off soon to repaint it anyways, was wondering if anything should be checked when I have it bare..

Also, just cus it's a good noob question - can I rest a b18A valve cover ontop of the head instead of the B17A cover till I have it out of paint? I just want to protect the engine (wont be running obv.) from anything falling.. doesn't have to bolt down - I just want to make sure I don't hurt anything..

=) Thanks for any help you guys !

Moonracer
06-23-2008, 08:37 AM
^^^If it were me, I wouldn't swap anything into the GSR. If it's really high on kms I'd just think about a rebuild. Throw the B20 into the GS and away you go.

As for your hesitation, it could be in the distributor. Possibly the igniter. I had a similar problem with my last teg and it just got worse to the point that it would just stall out while I was driving. I replaced that and the coil which fixed the problem. If you can get a good deal on a new distributor, you may want to go with that.

danlowteg
06-23-2008, 09:55 PM
^^^
^^^
I would do the ls/vtec only because i have done one with matt before.

If you go b20 with b17 head you will have a chance
to throw in new head gasket, timing belt, water pump, oil pump, piston rings, crank bearings, arp rod bolts, arp head studs, intake gasket, exhaust gasket, oil pan gasket, front/rear crank seals, valve seals, valve cover seals, cam seals, valve timing, new clutch/flywheel and you can clean the whole engine to look really pretty. Then you are ready to go for another 200000km with minor work here and there

Also you have a DD so rip that GSR apart and have some fun

PS: get a ls/vtec kit and chip the ecu, you can run your stock ecu for a bit but be nice and make sure to get ARP rod bolts and ARP head studs. The rods are the weak points

EDIT: After your all done get some wicked cams, valve springs, retainers, and itbs for that screaming vtec

If you want your drl's to not work but still have that plugged in pull out your rear deforost fuse. But then your defrost , fog lights (if you rewired them), and all of the heater buttons will stop working too.

Just unplug the connector that goes to the Daytime Running Lights. It worked on mine and every thing is still functional except the Parking Brake Reminder light at the dash.

9 day bump from a non G2 owner.

The person interested in the GS-R has kind of backed out so I'll be posting it up for sale soon.

hey anyone know of any recent part outs of a gen2? I'm looking to get a driver side front fender (any color, easy to paint match!), a driver side manual door assembly (or possibly just the entire driver door if its black, but don't really want to have to paint a fender and a door if I don't have too) and a driver side front wheel bearing!

shoot me a PM if you know of anything, thought i'd try here before i head on over to the junkyard!

Thanks in advance!
