i'll try to find them. i had some tdk maxg somewhere. these are the metal formulation with a metal frame covered with clear flat sides. they were like $20 bux US back in the day! coolest cassette ever made.

I bought those $50 Sony Metal Cassettes for my multitracker years ago. If I remember right, I only used 2 or 3 of them out of 10, so I'll dig around too see if I can find 'em.

They're those hardcore ones that weigh like 5lbs, full metal casing.

Rage/CBR I am interested. I have a really good Sony ES Cassette deck and I love playing around with em. Cassettes may sound dumb, but sound warmer than CD's if you ask me ;-)

If you want warmth, go vinyl. The tapes won't help much, too much tape hiss. If you use Dolby B NR, it'll compress the hell out of the audio range. Dolby C NR is better, but still takes away too much of the audio range. CD's destroy even the best tapes in signal range reproduction, but because it's so detailed, you lose some of the warmth that you're talking about. Vinyl is the only medium that can beat CD's, and you need a pretty damn good ($$$$$$) setup to do it.

You ever listen to SACD's? Very close to vinyl's warmth, with the clarity of CD's. Pretty neat stuff.

What are you gonna record from anyways?

I was planning of recording from Tape. But the Hiss is barely noticible if you have a good deck and are using Dolby S. Rage you sure do know your stuff when it comes to tapes I am impressed.

Still looking out for tapes, let me know.
