Somehow the ECU got toasted on our Family Caravan. 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan, 3.8l 180hp version... The technician explained that it was a faulty #3 ignition coil that caused the ECU to fry... They charged us $700+ originally for the ECU... but my dad price checked with other dealerships across alberta, and most of them were doin the part for 500, so he got pretty pissed and complained, and we got a 200$ discount... It's obvious they were trying to jip us... but I'm still wondering if it is plausible that a faulty ignition coil could even damage the ECU... I don't understand how a those two parts can be so intricately connected... Feels like saying if my interior dome light burns our, I'll lose my headlights... But yea, I can't say much because I wouldn't know... What do u guys think?

I think it's possible, you can short out the ECU by screwing up booster cables.

Too much power into the ecu from the connection to the coil packs. I've never heard of it but I guess it's possible.
