I got one word to describe it: HAWT!!!

How can you not love recaros, 18" BBS RC's, 6sd MT and a nice body kit as all stock equipment
Also you get a whole bunch of other nice goodies like nice shift boots, aluminum dash, alum pedals with a nice matching alum dead pedal.
I don't know all the details but for more info I suggest you check out the forums on www.vwvortex.com

That really is an appealing car. But I just can't shake the feeling that VW has spent the last ten years making truly crappy, unreliable cars that they won't cover with their shitty warranties and if they do they give you terrible service. It would take a lot to convince me otherwise.

Is this thing a VR6??

I believe its a 1.8T only. They are overweight cars. One of the car mags tested it at 7.5 0-60, which is not all that quick. Beautiful looking cars though. It's too bad VW has gotten a terrible reliability reputation in the last 4-5 years.

The GLi's are awesome looking cars! The best Jetta since the MKII GTX's. VW knows what they are doing. Good to see that they are keeping with their roots established early on by using only the best German aftermarket parts like Recaro and BBS!

We'll see if they can keep it up when the new MKV's come out!!

OK! What's all this bullshit about Volkswagens being shit? Sure they had their issues back in the day, but common -- the MK4 series is just fine. If you are referring to the coil-pack issue, well, it was an electronic malfunction of a part made by some shitty company. The people with the "shitty" coilpacks were taken care of by VW -- and now that problem no longer exists.

I'm racking my brain -- can't think of anything else.

Hmmm... I guess that's a good thing... right?! :)

Check out www.vwvortex.com and ENJOY!

The 04/05 Jetta GLI (with the above wheels) comes with ONLY a 1.8T motor. The 03 Jetta GLI came in a 24-valve VR6. If you don't understand VW or if you haven't been to a VW dealership, it's kinda hard to understand. For one year, VW thought it would be "nifty" to introduce a different model code (GLI instead of GLS or GLX) with their new VR6 motor and 6-speed gearbox. But that didn't last long. It was essentially a stock Jetta, with the VR6 and 17" wheels and a different tranny. People saw this, and noticed it didn't offer much "more" then base models.

This NEW Jetta GLI (as mentioned -> 04/05) has side-skirts, upgraded brakes, Recaro seats, and is lowered sporting 18" BBS RC wheels -- just to list a few. ;)

Go to you're local dealership. Ask questions. Take cars for test drives. You'll buy one. :)

whats that car worth?

Between $32 and 34,000. Depends if you work out a deal. Before tax of course. ;)

Once you take the beast for a test-drive -- it's just a GREAT drive. The upgraded brakes are generations ahead of the normal stock brakes. Don't forget, you can chip these things, and then you're starting to haul some serious ass. :)

See people have been spoiled by SRT-4s the STi's and such. Nowdays low 7s is nothing to brag about. I'd love to have one of those new GLi's. how would that lip hold up in the winter. From what i remember at the car show it was like 4 " off the ground

if i remember correctly, it redlined at 6700 and there was also a bit of torque steer when i accelerated. other than that and some excessive bodyroll compared to mine, it is a very good car.
