well if they are new, they have manufacturer warranty on them

actually you dont. you goto the manufacturer website, put in the hard drive serial number, they tell you when the warranty expires.

then you can do an advanced RMA if you give them your credit card number (no charge to you unless you fail to return the drive) so they send out a drive first, you put the bad one in the box and send it back. no receipt needed
