View Full Version : Engine upgrade v6 to tpi 350 help?

hi i have a '98 v6 camaro and am currently converting it to an SS i have everything so far from the hood to the paint and the wheels i cant afford the LS1 engine and i recently blew the head gasgets in my 3.8L V6 so i am now bidding on a 5.7 TPI 350 with the computer and all the components needed to install but what i dont know is will it fit in a 98 model it came out of a 91 TA

It won't drop straight in but with some new mounts and some fabrication it will work, but it will take work so if your a lazy one of expect it just to drop in and work, then this isn't a swap for you. Another good forum for Domestic cars is www.performance-shop.com

Does anyone happen to know the horse power of the 350 tpi compared to the 3.8L v6 ... like what kind of power increce im looking at?

your 3.8L V6 has 200hp and 225 ft-lbs of torque and the tpi 5.7L has 240hp and 340 ft-lbs of torque. personally id wait and get a 5.7L LT1 they arent that expensive and you'll get more out of it.
