Is it worth trying?

what about Thunderbird?

I've been using both for a little bit under a year now and both are good programs.. lots of extension upgrades for Firefox and Thunderbird so there's a lot of customization.. I've had encounters with memory leaks off and on, but it happens so rarely that it doesn't drive you crazy.. I use it as primary, and use Opera and IE as secondary browsers for sites that require you to use IE6.

New firefox version just came out, but I've heard there are some problems with it, so you might want to try and get an older version..

To answer your question, is it worth trying? Unless you wanna stick with IE and get browser hijackers, spyware, viruses, and tons of other odd PC behaviours.

I've been using the Mozilla suite when it first debuted a long time ago, then switched over to Firefox when they made the browser seperate of the suite. I use Thunderbird as well. The only beef I have is that newsgroup threads don't show up sequentially. So new posts that are replying to a topic show up seperate from the initial post. Doesn't automatically link them together like Outlook.

I've found that the 9.x.x versions didn't have the memory leak problem. But it's nothing that happens frequently, maybe once a week? And if it does occur, just simply Ctrl-Alt-Del to close the firefox.exe manually, and it'll be fine again.

Have been using Firefox for the last 6 months or so, and I love not having popups, and mass spyware. I notice it doesn't initially load as fast as IE6, but I don't mind the extra few seconds. Once it is loaded, webpages load quickly.

I do have problems with pdf files if I follow a link to them. Maybe this is an issue with adobe acrobat instead of Firefox?

I like it.

Rarely, some things don't work but it must be a missing plug-in.

Yep firefox right here. Used IE until a couple of months ago, it's a joke compared to this browser. Never had a problem with it!

I like the multi tab browsing and the loadlink in background extensions.

Makes it easy when you are researching something to have the link load in the background while you keep reading.

Plus it doesn't clutter up your task bar at the bottom of your screen.

I just downloaded it now, and I love it. The layout stays the same but no damn spyware horseshit

Yeah, it's great on it's own already, but when you add in a bunch of extensions... you'll wonder how you were able to use the internet at all before it :D

I'm running firefox 1.0... haven't had a single problem with it... unlike IE which always crashed on me...

Firefox is #1. :)

They are for RC1 so I'm not sure if they'll work perfectly with the final release but check it out anyways.

One thing I like about the tabs, is that you set your starting homepage(s) instead of homepage. When I open my browser all the sites I check open in differnet tabs and I can check them all quickly.

Was playing with it today, but don't seem to be much difference with Safari. If you are on a PC I think this is a big upgrade. If you are on the mac stick with Safari.

Firefox has to be a million times better than piece-of-ass Explorer. I went to Firefox after checking out blinkme_210's sig, and I haven't looked back since! Tabbed browsing is great!

So far I have had no problems with Firefox. There are some things you will have to get used to that IE could never develop...good proggie.

I love firefox, 2 words open source.
I've only had one problem with it so far. With the newest version of firefox (1.0 I beleive) make sure that if you're installing new extensions, when you do close firefox windows to make sure to give it enough time to properly install (10 secs to be safe) before opening a new window. If you dont you'll have to delete your entire profile and install all extensions and bookmarks again.
