My coworker needs answers to these two questions:
1.There are seven ways a baseball player can legally reach first base without getting a hit. Taking a base on balls -- a walk -- is one way. Name the other six
2.How is it possible for a pitcher to make four or more strikeouts in one inning?
thanks!

If the catcher drops the third strike and the player makes it to first, a fourth player can be struck out (or fifth, etc, depending on how many times the catcher drops the third strike!)

It's only happened once or twice, a generation or two ago. i remember it was like a trivial pursuit question or something, but don't remember the answer

A Balk forward the hitter to first as well... or did someone say it already? A balk is usually when the pitcher is in the motion of the pitch and doesnt throw it..

A balk only advances base runners, not the batter.
