anyone know what was happening at the black swan last night?

Just after midnight police responded to a disturbance call in
the Acadia area. Responding units noticed a vehicle leaving
the area and started to follow it.

The vehicle left he area and police continued to follow it to
99 Ave and Macleod Trail. There was an attempt made to stop
the vehicle but it fled at a high rate of speed into the
Superstore parking lot. Police discontinued the attempt to
stop the vehicle and the car kept going westbound in the
parking lot at a very high rate of spped.

At the west end of the parking lot the road ends.

At this point the driver of the fleeing car attempted to stop
but failed to do so. He struck the curb, taking out a large
chunk of cement, became airborne and struck a major power
pole approx 15 feet off the ground.

The pole sheared off knocking out power to a large area
including the Superstore and nearby restuarants.

Police attended to the victims who were trapped in their car
with live wires lying on top of the car. They suffered minor
injuries.

The power outage caused several hundred patrons at the Black
Swan Resturant nearby to start fighting. Over fifteen police
cars were called to the scene of the disturbance before order
could be restored. Two people suffered injuries from either
fighting or falling in the parking lot.

The power outage also caused the traffic lights at several
intersections to fail. One of these, at 99 Ave and Macleod
Trail, failed causing the lights to be out for all directions
of traffic.

Before police could get to the scene and direct traffic, four
vehicles collided in the intersection. Several people
received minor injuries. Ironically, the occupants of one of
the vehicles were on the way to the Black Swan in response to
a family friend who was injured in the disturbance.

Police also attended to numerous alarms in the area as a
result of the outage.

Charges are pending in the original incident of the car
fleeing from police.

Someone was running from the cops, flew through the superstore parking lot, hit a cement curb, then a power pole, knocking out power to a few buildings and traffic lights, including the black swan. Everyone emptied into the streets, then a fight erupted.

haha, i was there, showed up at the end of a pubcrawl with like 50 other drunks on a friends b-day. 45 minss after getting in the door, the lights went out, and fights just started on the dance floor, then it flowed outside when the bouncers just started kicking the crap out of people, more fights started outside, crazy night

If the Black Swan was a fancy restaurant, they would have had no fights going on just because the power is out. :rolleyes:

From recent history...It's also a good place to get involved in a fight, or even shot at!! It's probably where the driver (loser) wanted to go, but just was too pissed and over shot it.

Yeah, that sucked. We were at BP's, and I finished my pint JUST when the lights went out. Couldn't get any more beer! Then had to wait 20 mins. to manually pay w/ credit card - one of those oldschool slider-copiers, after she added up our bill with pen and paper.

I know a girl who was at the original party. She said the cops were called (possibly by the kid throwing the party) cause some guy was carrying pepper spray and it went on from there..
