What do you guys think about it? It looks promising to me and it boosts your car to 241 wheel hp. Sound like a plan

I personally don't like the idea of boosting a car with a stock NA bottom end running 11:1 compression. That's just me. :)

It's actually 11.5:1 compression ratio.

I also looked at this kit, but decided against it. Instead I am putting together a kit of my own. starting with a t3/t4 and the AEM EMS. I have a 04 GTS and looking to acheive 300+ whp. Will cost a lot more but it will be worth it in the end. The only problem I've run into is finding a place that makes a reliable turbo manifold. Looked into Spin City Turbo out Saskatoon and heard some real horror stories.

xs sux.

Barely anyone uses the aem ems other options out there.

With 300whp you may start to run into tranny problems unless you're doing some work with that as well. It seems that most people who have boosting their 6 speeds have found the 250whp mark to be the barrier when it comes to the tranny.

250whp in a Celica will still haul ass. that is a very good goal to shoot for.

Celica TVS3
03-22-2005, 04:15 PM
Yeah 300hp is pushing/passing the limits of the tranny. Also if you plan to push the power that high your going to want to think about running lower comp. pistons. Also i don't think the AEM EMS is even comptatible with the GT-S. The popular stand alone is the Apexi Power FC.

Good Luck with your project.

I will be interested in seeing this, back before your time I was heavly involved in the Alberta Celica Club. Even with juice we could not get a GT-S to break 200 HP on the dyno.

yup lots of progress.
the most right now is 194whp. With intake header exhaust and powerfc.

theres a stage 3 cam protoype goin to be released after they get some dyno results.

I do agree with you guys thata the tranny in the Celica is week, although if you upgrade the final drive gears you should be alright, I toasted my stock clutch in less than 10,000 kms. with just cold air, exhaust and 75 shot of NOS, Trial is putting a kit out for GTS that will put out 400 hp.but they are only going to set it at 350 to the wheels also Piper is in the process of finishing their performance cams that is said to good for 25 to the wheels, and if a guy was to spend some many and bump their 2zzge to a 2 litre with the Trial stroker kit, the sky is the limit.

Go right to the source!!! JRP has a kit they do in house that puts 295 to the wheels with alot of room to play, email Trail if you like, its all from the source, not to be rude or anything, but there isn't to much about the 2ZZ-GE that I don't know.

You could also write to Scott at [email protected]
I believe monkey wrench racing is also putting out cams, but are still in prototype stages yet. If there's anything else you would like to know don't be scared to ask. I've been in touch with all of these guys waiting for some aftermarket support for the 2zz.

civic_rida
03-25-2005, 09:53 AM
have u heard of c2 and tpr.

c2 by far has better turbo kits than xs
tpr has came out with cams but hasnt dynoed them yet.

Unlike piper cams whose been sayin they will come out for the last 2 years.

Crower is in the process of comin out with cams

Industrial flow is in the process of building a new head that will go into production.

Somehow i find ^ this hard to belive.
Not to be rude, but instead of telling people what you think you know, you should listen to other peoples advice. I'm sure there are alot of things about the 2zz you don't know.

If you're actually going to build this turbo setup and don't want to get new tranny. Try cryo treating the gears and let the celica comunity know how it holds up.

boomer120
03-25-2005, 12:29 PM
I don't know anything about doing cryo, they say it works though. I don't know if I would trust it , For what its worth I think the wat to go is with brand new parts with a garantee. I broke down yesterday on may way through the city and stopped at Matrix and ordered the turn key kit from Trial, You should stopo in their and chack out that Apr kit, it's kickass.I haven't read to much on tpr but they didn't seem to have the time or energy to return any e-mails to comment on their products, haven't read anything on C2 either, if you talk to the Toyota engineers they will tell you that the engine is good for 8-9 psi but they clutch will fry, I had to upgrade mine just to handle the NOS. But on the other hand if you contact Millen they'll tell you to pull the dipstick and replace everything underneith, I did word it wrong when I said there wasn't to much I didn't know about the 2zz, should said I am well informed on the aftermarket support that is out or soon to be, sorry lol.

Celica TVS3
03-25-2005, 01:45 PM
You mean you just ordered the $7000usd trial s/c kit? I'm sure its a quality kit but that is alot of money. For the the same money you could have gone with a c2 power turbo + internals + new tranny gears +lsd Which would produce 300+hp consistantly without smashing your tranny.

www.c2power.com the guy that owns the company's name is Gasper - and everyone who has bought a kit from him says his service is excellent. As in you can get intouch with him at home anytime if you have a question.

If you don't allready know check out: www.newcelica.org the people on that site are really knowladgable and can answer pretty much any question.

Aaron.

03-25-2005, 02:17 PM
No, no Trial offers a turbo kit good for 300, and another good for 400 that comes with sleaves, but I don't want to do any internals till next winter, there should be alot more out their buy then. This year its just turbo, exhuast, fuel and suspension. If you contact Scott from Trial, he can give you all the stats and cost, I don't know why its not on the web page yet but he will reply and is very helpfull, another good guy to talk to is a guy named Milan at Matrix MotorSports, he has been doing alot of leg work for me you can reach him at 780-483-3434.

Celica TVS3
03-25-2005, 06:42 PM
I didn't know they had a Turbo kit out either. How much was it for the kit? What is included in it? How long untill it arives? What did Matrix quote you for the install?

Celica TVS3

I don't know if you can host pictures on this site. But you can post them by clicking "post reply" then use the "IMG" tag. If you want somewhere to host them use ww.newcelica.org you have to create an account and post them in the member gallery.

boomer120

$5500.00 for the kit, its a standard kit power fc, t28, bov, piping, intercooler. Just email Scott. Matrix doesn't do installs, they just supply parts.

boomer120

Roommates car, he won it in West Ed Mall. I guess its not bad for $10. Naa the s/c kit from Trail is like $9200 Canadian. I didn't know they put out a kit either till I talked to Scott from Trial, here's the kicker though, they are developing another kit that should be done by June thats good for 500 hp, it does come with the sleeves that you WILL need though. I raced the Viper last year, might as well never even started the fuckin' Celica. Ever since I've been on a mission. He doesn't think that there is any way that a 4 banger can beat him. This summer I'll prove otherwise. That Viper is over 1000 lbs. heavier than the Celica. If I can get as close 325 or so to the wheels I should be alright. Not to be off topic or anything but do you know where a guy can get some good head work done, valves etc.

civic_rida
03-28-2005, 01:07 AM
Maybe he was talking about the A'PEXi turbo kit?

Trial does NOT make a turbo kit.

Q: how can you make 325 whp if your tranny will only hold up to 250 hp?

if its your goal to beat that viper, you could probably do it for $2500 (including cost of car) and keep your celica as a streetable daily driver. ( http://members.shaw.ca/thedyno/GLHvsViper.wmv )

but, then again, its your car money, good luck :)

Dude when ever whatever it is gets here I'll take some pics and post 'em. but I have done some research on C2 power's kit now and wish I would have done so sooner, everybody that has it, is really happy with the kit, I think I would have ordered the stage 1 kit with the large intercooler though, would like to wait till next winter to do the internals, Have e-mailed a few more companies about cams and I'll let you know what they have to say. I couldn't find a kit for the Celica from Apex'i.

boomer120
03-28-2005, 12:10 PM
The tranny should hold up with the new clutch. $2500 seems pretty low, the sticker price of the car stock was $43,000. not to mention exhaust, CAI,unorthadox pullies, NOS, suspension, Decah door hinges and clutch.

Holy fawk thats big dough for a turbo or sc kit

boomer120
03-28-2005, 12:19 PM
It seems about average for a kit, but I know I could have had some one do a custom kit for a little cheaper, buy the way legendboy your work looks kick ass, but I figure this way it comes pre- programmed. just have to find a place to fine tune it on the dyno. Would you know of any where to go in the Edmonton area?

civic_rida

dude u still thinkin u have a turbo kit.
