Hey Playa...

Are the 05's out yet. One of my buddies drove one (I think he said 05) and he couldn't believe it.

The two things that blew him away were the amount of head room, and how the halogen lights made it seem light daylight.

the new TL is absoutely amazing. the interior , the power, the luxury. and the toys! like built in bluetooth and apparently one of the best voice-reg Navi out there.

and Brembos on the manual!

if that thing was RWD it would be a beema killer..

and im sure the new RL with AWD and 300Horse will be good competetion for the germans

Stratus_Power

but its almost like the Phaeton w/ VW.. who is going to pay 70k+ for an acura when you can get a E class or a 5 series

true as that maybe ( and i do agree that it is ) , for around that price you are likely to get the lower model 5series or E class, and the RL has the numbers to compete with both model's v8's! that being said its without a doubt a way better car then the previous and should give the E500 or even the 545i a run for thier money in a straight line

i think in the same price range there is the E320 ( around 215hp i think) and the 530i (225hp) ...and the RL has 300hp and AWD.....the german buyers will still be set on the german cars however the new RL is definately sweet

On paper, the RL sounds cool, but I think this is the most flattering pic I could find of it.

I think I'd rather a CLK 320.

oh and acura.com shows the Rl to start at 48900 US so i dont quite think it will be 70 here, but well see

The TL is phat IMO. Love the style of the car, so classy.

ZorroAMG

RL is to compete with the S-Class & 7 Series

TL is to compete with the E-class & 5 Series

The Acuras have great features and power the money and are a smart buy if you aren't partial to german cars...

t-im
11-18-2004, 01:44 PM
i'm partial to german cars..soo i'm biased here but..

Acura seems tot hink it's all about power and crap..but..i still rather dirve a 530i or E320 vs a RL....JUST because it has 300hp doesn't make it a better car (thats the mentality of Acura salesmen)

but then acura salesmen told me the TL competes with the 5 series but is a "great deal since it's way cheaper"

uh huh..

my friends dad has one, theyre pretty sweet, but personally i'd rather go with a c-class or 3 series, even tho they are compact and TL is midsize.

Its really too bad they keep it FWD. I had a 2002 and like it quite a bit, just a little plain for me.

iwould pick the RL over 530 but not the 545.

But the toys in the RL are just amazing

i like how Acrua is going.. but at this rate the next RSX is going to cost 40k+ and compete against the C-class

dave101

yes the toys are amazing. the sound system makes it seem like theres a live band playing directly behind you.

woops, I meant the TL in terms of being a nice looking car overall. The rear of the RL looks hot, but the front looks like a Camry with a thyroid problem....

Try not to be so ignorant next time.

And actually look beyond the badge...gives the 760 BMW'a and S600 mercedes a run for their money...

I'm not asking you to love it, but give that car the respect it deserves.

Exactly...

Anyone paying that much for a car is most likely going to want a nice star or prop on the hood. How many of you would go pay $200k for a civic with 600hp over a Ferrari with only 400hp? (I know it's a stretch, but just imagine...)

I read somewhere that VW isn't selling very many. Even a VP at Audi America said people should just buy an Audi. That VP was later fired.

Big gamble that hasn't paid off. Too bad really, it is a pretty cool car.

Well it is simply a shame that the Phaeton isn't selling well because it is a great car. Were I able to afford it, I wonder IF I would look at buying one instead of a BMW or a Mercedes-Benz..

Go take a 2005 TL for drive ! it is much better then the 03 TL-S so so much nicer .... better handling, better brake, good size, look ok ... and the sound system is amazing !!

Of course can't compare the handling part to BMW, and still not as smooth as any BMW .. however, it costs only half the price for a fully loaded 530i, or about the same price as a 320i ... so .. it is a bargain at 42K !

If the new TL actually compare to a E class, it is way faster then E320, and a bit slower then a E500, however, for handling, it feels sportier then the E Class, and offer about the same interior space ... and again, only half the price ! of course, not the same class of car.

New RL can be more or less directly compare to the new A6 ....(price and AWD :)

The same friends dad that got jacked 20G's from their E320???

We got a TL, we test drove the C class, its personally shit compared to the 3 series benz's out their. Then we test drove the 3series XI, even that had no power compared to the TL. Personally looking for a TL-bluetooth phone.

The Phaeton is an incredible car, there's no doubt about it.

But the problem stems from the fact that it was incorrectly badged. Any marketing moron could figure out that someone who is looking to buy a $100,000 car isn't looking for your typical highway cruiser - they want the prestige that accompanies it.

Now VW is a higher end car company - even their Jetta line can look pretty hot if its well equipped, but it simply isn't the type of car that you want to drop huge amounts of coin on.

As for the TL, it's a great car, but the problem that Acura hasn't realized is that it's never going to get the sales it wants until it designs a RWD platform for its luxury line - simply put, there is no other manufacturer that uses a FWD platform other than Acura, and it's hardly a sales pitch. RWD with stability control would net a lot more buyers than boring FWD.

TL's and acuras in general may not have the name of a benz or lexus, but they retain value excellently and are a steal for the price!

Their value does not hold well.

If you don't think so, look at a 2003 TL type-S. They are pretty reasonably priced.

TL is a fantastic car! Everything is right about it except its FWD. LOL:D

It must speak volumes about BMW or Benz if some of us are willing to pay thousands extra instead of opting for a car that is just as well equipped for thousands less. Either that or we are brain washed with branding and are actually suckers for over paying.

Anyhow, I can't really see myself driving the G35 or TL or any of the 330's competitors, their cars just don't appeal to me?:dunno:

I don't know why some people are worried about depreciation, might as well just buy a beater and it won't depreciate that much :D

The more expensive they are, the more they drop. 01 7 Series can be had for $40K now :D haha:bigpimp:
