I like the newish style they have going with that car. I agree the tail lights need a little work tho!

eckostyle
11-18-2004, 08:59 AM
they better make a sedan to go along with that (for sales purposes), still nice idea though

SaabKraft
11-18-2004, 09:41 AM
think they followed the same design cues as the upcoming mitsubishi lancer (X?)... trying to be all euro and sparse, but it looks too artificial , not enough hard lines. kind of peugot 206-ish, but somehow less appealing?

Def_3
11-18-2004, 09:44 AM
looks straight out of Europe

Very 206 like, I'm not feelin it as a civic.... of course if they threw a 200whp awd powertrain in it, I wouldnt complain.. but then I wake up and its a honda

I agree with you guys that it does look fugly...but I thought the same thing of the Civic that are in production today (2001-present)....I bet when they come out they'll start to grow on people....

If it does need work on those taillights though :thumbsdow

I'm not surprised that the Civic takes such proportions.

Yes, it looks very much like a Euro hatch - look at any offerings from Peugeot, Citroen, etc and you'll see a similar rear end. But if that's what it takes to generate sales in Europe, then that's life! In North America it seems that sedans and coupes are needed to generate sales, so that's why our current generation sedan and coupe are so conservative, because it sells! (I know I'm gonna generate a lot of flaming from Civic owners here, but sorry, I much prefer the current hatch over the sedan/coupe.)

Another, perhaps more important reason on why the car has a nose like it does - new European pedestrian safety laws. I read an article in one Brit magazine a few months back saying that sometime late 2004 would be the cut off date when manufacturers have to adhere to laws that make cars safer if a pedestrian were hit with the front of the car. This pretty much rules out the short front overhang look that a lot of enthusiasts prefer. Apparently that's one of the reasons why the Mercedes CLS was out to market so soon... if they were late, they wouldn't have been able to sell the car.

It looks like the long nose look is here to stay - look at the Peugeot 407 and you'll see how a manufacturer can try to make a long nose car not look ugly.

Since when was a Civic 'good looking'?

I think this one looks better than any Civic I have seen for years -- looks euro-aggressive (Peugeot or a Citroen) to me.

I like it.

01-03-2005, 07:44 PM
Yeah the concept photo's are pretty close. I have seen pics without the 'disguise'.

I'll just say.. I hope it looks better in person.

It took me a while to warm up to the EK at first.. then the EP came out.. and all of a sudden the EK started looing a whole lot better.

Perhaps Honda does that on purpose to help the resale value of thier used civics.. I dunno.. hehe.

Its a sad day. I think my time for buying civic is coming to an end, by the looks of it. I'm sure I'm not alone.

Is that civic using the same motor from RSX-S? I hope so, then there will be more of those motors on the market for cheap to do K series swaps.

It looks kinda like an insight crossed with a mazda 3 IMO but I think it's definately not my style.

yeah N.A won't have another SiR hatch this time around. I think they learnt their lesson with the poor selling EP3

i don't think the RSX will be gone anytime soon. afterall, the RSX is the Integra legacy..one of the world's best selling, most popular and famous cars.

if it does though, i wouldn't mind seeing a TSX coupe.....
it should be called a HONDA PRELUDE.

No official word but RSX is should be gone in about a year from now. It's expected from everyone. RSX cheapen the Acura image and pointless to co-exist with Civic in Honda.

If only 1 name plate had to be choose for the small size Honda, Civic should be it because it has a bigger legacy than Integra/RSX.

I don't know. The RSX seems to be selling really well, and it gets great reviews. I think it would be a mistake discontinuing it just because the Civic will get closer to it in terms of performance..

My bf was reading somewhere that the new civic is supposed to be offered with a 200hp engine and stock 19 inch rims, he thinks it may be the prelude replacement, but not looking like that, ewww! Hope they make a coupe or something.
