just a toshiba :( got stopped at customon my way back from HK to Vancouver during the summer because they thought i bought it in HK ( it was like 4 months old).... man that guy sure as hell wasn't nice to me..

" so where did you buy this from?"
"London drugs about 4 months ago in calgary"
" really?"
"yeh..."

( he looks at the laptop)
<much louder voice> "so where did you get this? hong Kong? Taiwan?"
"No seriously in Calgary, London Drugs, they dont even release that model anymore"

<extremely loud voice> " Well i dont believe you, i will give you one more chance, where did you get this?"

"seriously in Calgary!!"

then he gave me this dirty look and end up sending me to this place where they check your stuff. I was in line for 2 god damn hours, made me missed the flight back to calgary.. and they finally let me go when they found a school assignment in " My document" thats dated March something..

bastard!!

Here's my computer setup, I'm too lazy to clean down here, so I'll just write it up :)

- Dual Pentium 750 mHz
- 512MB of RAM
- Matrox Dual-head video card (supports two monitors)
- One 19" monitor (the other one's up north with my dad)
- ADSL connection
- 1 18GB harddrive, and 2 9 GB harddrives (SCSI)
- Tape Drive (?)
- 4x CD Burner (WOO HOO!)
- SoundBlaster 16 (WOO HOO!)
- Crappy speakers by Altec Lansing
- Microsoft mouse, and Fujitsu keyboard (meh, normal stuff)

Not bad for free!! :) We also got a dual 500mHz server with pretty much the same specs, other than the processors, and maybe the harddrives. These computers were designed to monitor Oil Drilling stations.

wow Nice video card! ATI AIW RAdeon 8500 DV is the way to go!!! unless you can afford the 500US ATI AIW Radeon 9700 Pro..
I had the first gen of AIW Radeon from 2 years ago ( Oct 8th haha.. ) and its the best video card i ever had. But i no longer have cable connection in my room so i changed to a 8500LE as im very poor :(

my comp sucks ass now as it hasnt been upgraded for the last 2.4 years, the good ol' days of paying 400 bucks for a 16X yamaha burner, and 500 for a 17' Flat screen ( not LCD) monitor.
Im running the cambrdige DTT3500 digital speakers which was up there 2 years ago, 5.1 build in dolby digital and crap like that, still sounds pretty good w/ an Audigy!!!

Im running a 800Mhz o/c 950Mhz Duron , 768MB PC-133 SDRAM, 20GB MAxtor HD ( ouchh...), Radeon 8500 LE, SB audigy (1), 16X Pioneer slot load DVD, 16X yamaha Burner.. antec case w/ LCD orbitcal digital ont he side, DTT 3500 speakers, Samsung 700NF monitor, 300W Enermax dualfan PS, Abit KT7-Raid, logitech cordless navigator keyboard/optical mouse...

hell no! i still have a better processor, three times your storage, way quicker access times from the hard drives cuz of my raid array, a PVR, and a sound system that no altec lansing speakers could ever touch.

hehe but i have a shitty vid card :(

ps. why do ppl mention raid support if they dont actually use it? haha

WD CAVIAR isn't fast and ATA onboard Raid isn't that special (cheap solution but by far limited in performace and scalability)

SCSI - go big or go home!

Case is fully custom modifed by myself, fans, paint, metal work. 11 fan's in total. Over clocked celeron 600MHZ to 1gig with 100% no problems for all most 2 years. Runs a cool 25-31 degrees, with only 0.1 more volts over the OE voltage.

Yes it's getting old, but have been putting the money into the car instead of the PC....but can you blame me???:dunno:

SCSI - go big or go home! most caviars arent fast...but the ones with 8meg buffer are fast....and have 2 of those things in a raid0 array and things are pretty fast for a home computer.

scsi is great, but its also a poor value...it costs at least 5 times more for scsi storage...yet it isnt 5 times faster...

I have 4 - but I can't see using more than 1 unless doing 3d design or something. Porn and Games work fine with 1 big one. :D

129.99 from Office depot. +8 or so for a bigger board.

heh having dual monitors is convenient as you can tell on my setup.. i have 2 more monitors in the basement but I don't have enough video cards to run it.. 3 would be idea.. one for my TV one for web surfing, one for gaming..

it's also good for work too when you have to copy stuff or reference things. More workspace = goooood

Waste buying the uber top of the line. 3.2 is 600, can get a 2.8 for 300 - and you won't notice the difference.

Wow, 5G US, for a PC that could easily be built for 4G CDN. Or you could build a computer that isnt from a overpriced custom shop, and spend 3G for just as much, or better. I'm impressed.

haha what an old thread. i still dont understand how 89coupe has a faster computer than me...

the only upgrade my computer has received lately is that ive ditched the old kyro2 (stupid fan died) and put in a radeon8500 that i jacked from my bud. and i finally got a decent moniter.

still runs facking awesome for a year old computer
