try www.ereb.com (Edmonton Real Estate Board) you should be able to search for listings near the campus. You could try contacting the listing realtor and go from there.

That site won't list apartments for rent however, for that you would probably need to pick up a renters guide, or check the Edmonton Journal or Sun classifieds.

okay, I wasn't sure. EREB will have all the listings currently for sale in Edmonton, just follow the instructions for the search function on their site.

Even if there are no listings for that particular area right now, check back every so often as listings are probably added/deleted daily.

don't forget to pick up a real estate guide of the local area and call around... always your best bet.

well in calgary they have them at macs and 7-11's etc, and they're free.

i'd assume edmonton would have the same hopefully

i actually sort of want to stay in Campus, but my dad wants to make an investment on an apartment, and now that im living alone he wants to find one near campus for me... so i need to give him some general price and info :(

yeah, I kinda agree with Jeff. A realtor can help you guys decide what would be the best. They know the area and the market. Its not like they charge per hour, they get paid on commission. If you decide not to buy- you got your real estate advice for free. Realtors have access to better information than the general public, I'm sure one would be willing to help you and your parents out.

yeh i will think about that... i personally dont really want to move into an apartment... and my dad's only going to be back for Xmas for like 2 weeks.. so its not like he has time to just come up here and check things out...

anyway, heres my advice based on the fact that ive been shopping for the right place for a long time...

-most places around campus are rentals only. the places that u can buy are usually either shitty or expensive or both.
-there are places south of whyte ave but thats 2 far to walk
-look downtown. cheaper (still not cheapest cuz downtown is a good location), its in the middle of everything, there are tons of nice upscale condos...and also if u can score a condo near the lrt station, that means the U is only a few minutes away. cuz a trip from downtown to UA on lrt is about 5 minutes...

but if u do happen to find a sweet place, lemme know cuz i really wana get the fuck up on outa this festering hellhole

haha yes my sister used to live in Hub.. not my fav place to be. i know the new one across from the telus center was for sell, and its closer to school than it is for me and its nicer than my home in calgary!

yeh but since u guys are talking how up north is like cheap but not really as 3.18 is renting for like 500.. just say the price around campus renting is about that much. That place was bought by a friend of my friend's parent, but they aint living up here yet so she's renting it rite now.
