once teh number is programmed onto the card u cant change it, but if they are brand new (like these) they're unprogrammed

So what exactly do you do with an extra sim card anyway? Is there some advantage? I know very little on cell phones.

people buy sim cards if they have lost their original one and need their number programmed onto a new card, or if they are buying a new phone and need to activate it on a new number, theres no advantage to having more than one if u dont need it

Ha ha, one sold to me. Thx GucciBoy!
Umm... another reason for a new SIM is if you're using old/ancient Fido SIMs and you prefer to store all your numbers on the SIM rather than phone (to facilitate changing phones frequently), you might want a new one as it is 255 slots for phone book memory rather than 100... essential if you're using old-school phones w/o internal phonebooks like my 5190. :)
