modding the 3400 will involve alot of custom work to take it very far. (Unless you just want headers/intake/exhaust).

Everything is more expensive for them though because there is less demand.

3400's are rather ancient pushroads with a reputation for gasket leaks. They barely run faster than their 2.2L ECOTEC counterparts that come with a 5 spd. Oh yeah... handling sorta sucks stock.

If i was you, I wouldn't. If you really dig grand am's, get an ECOTEC with a 5-spd.

:werd:

This guy knows whats up. It a grand am with sporty styling, that is all dont expect a miracle.

The low-rev torque is it's best asset but It's no fun driving a car that peaks at 4500rpm, trust me I drive a Z24. Nice passing power on the highway but Civic Si's will pull away from the lights.

Heres a recap

-175hp, 205tq
-4 spd auto
-Shitty resale
-Not a fantastic engine

I drove one as a rent a car to edmonton and that thing just used up alot of gas, (driving was a bit spirited) if u really want to get a brand new domestic, i would get impala and slam it to the ground its plentY fast.

The Grand Am is NOT light. The best I've seen them run at race city was mid 16s. In all honesty I would go for something else. I know they are dirt cheap to buy and probably pretty good transportation but if you are a bit of an enthusiast I would look elsewhere...

Thats the 3400, but like I say they are only a few tenths faster than the 2.2L 140HP ECOTEC.
