Well my mom bought a brand new car today. We picked up the new 2005 Honda odyssey ex-l. The first trip she made in it was from the south up to the North East Sportsplex to take my sister to ringette. A guy came running into the arena asking if anyone owns a new honda minivan. He then informed us that a van had hit ours in the parking lot. The rear bumber is fucked and maybe the rear 1/4 too. e took off but there was two witnesses that saw it and think they got a licence plate(they said it was really dirty and it was dark out so it was hard to see). THe van had 50 km on the odometer and its allready messed up. The witnesses said that he looked very drunk. THe police were called but they said they wouldn't pursue anthing until tomorrow. What is are options from this point? There will be a police report filled out tomorrow morning and our lawyer will be contacted. I will post some pics of the damage. I hate this because you can never repair a vehicle to factory condition. Also any recommendations on a good bodyshop to go to would be great.

well if you dont happen to find the guy i know if you have collision on your insurance your covered for hit and runs without your rates going up, you just dont get the discount for no claims
this way you can just take it to A1 autobody or something

Well the police report was filled out today and it matches the description both witnesses gave of the van that hit our odyssey. We are going to attempt to get his insurance company to buy us a new one.

Good luck with that.
They will fix it, but they aren't going to replace the vehicle. Unfortunately the Insurance companies don't see vehicles the way we do.
And there are a lot of people out there with no respect for peoples personal property.
I like to call them... 'bastards'.

umm... I think that's a little extreme. The insurance company will most likely just get the bumper fixed. It's not like your brand new car was totalled or anything...

ya you wont get a new car thats for sure but get it repaired at th emost expensive place, a oem bumper and a good plain place= brand new you wont be able to tell the difference
