Singer and sometime actress Britney Spears has hinted that she is expecting a baby. In a letter dedicated to her mother, the pop diva said she couldn't wait to become a mum.

"I relate to her so well because she's a young mom," she writes. "A lot of people think you should wait until you're older before you have kids. I've had a career since I was 16, have travelled the world and back and even kissed Madonna!

"The only thing I haven't done so far is experience the closest thing to God and that's have a baby. I can't wait! To be a really good mom, I feel your child needs to be your full-time job. I want to raise my kids and share all of those precious moments with them and not rely on nannies."

The letter is written on her official fan club site. She also says in the letter: "Cooking is kind of like motherhood. To be really good at it, you don't need instructions. You just go on instinct and what feels right."

Spears, 22, wed dancer Kevin Federline in Los Angeles this year after months of rumours in the media. Federline has two small children with "Moesha" star Shar Jackson.

Ending weeks of speculation, BRITNEY SPEARS announced that she is pregnant today. On her Website, the pop princess issued a statement to fans saying, "The time has finally come to share our wonderful news that we are expecting our first child together. There are reports that I was in the hospital this weekend, KEVIN and I just want everyone to know that all is well."

Last month, Britney hinted at the upcoming announcement, saying: "I feel as though I have been very quiet and still lately. 'The calm before the storm' ... I can really relate to that statement right now." Marrying dancer KEVIN FEDERLINE last fall made Britney more than a new wife, she's also step-mom to his 2-year-old and newborn baby with "Moesha" actress SHAR JACKSON.
